Its affordable and Im thinking about it...

There is two things holding me back right now.

1) 3/16" Angle. I use 1/8" angle as my straight edge currently. I know that it can bend if I push on it enough. Thats over a 48" length. I would imagine about the same thing with this- but the extruded base may provide enough support... Argh... ?

2) Lack of a way to add an angle block to hold it all on right angles.

When I buy wood for boxes I have it cut 1" over sized at Lowes and I trim it down at home to keep accuracy. So I have multiple pieces at 48" long.

This would work well with that...

Thoughts?

Hmmmm even cheaper, but some bad reviews...

The way this one clamps is better... Should keep it all square this way! Plus I can mount my saw so the motor is on the clamp side- allowing better support.

Why not just get a table saw, you should be able to get a pretty nice used one off craigslist for that price.

Dont have anywhere for a table saw.

Plus its easier to move the circular saw than the work.

That's true. I've had pretty good luck using a guide plate and a circular saw in the past, but having a table saw is pretty nice. :happy055:

I'm an advocate of a good table saw. Or even a mediocre table saw with a table extension and good jig/fence added.

I've attempted to build a cabinet with a circular saw, and it just doesn't cut the mustard. When perfection is required, use the perfect tool for the job...

I've been spoiled in this respect, having these tools available to me since I was old enough to use them.

If it was a big enough part of your livelihood you'd cough up the money to get the right tools. It would save you time, and expense of having stuff pre-cut at lowe's. Check estate sales, and auctions - I see them selling all the time for reasonable prices (used).

Like I said I have it cut over sized at Lowes then rip it down here. I have no way to get full sheets home anyhow. Not to mention I live on the second story... lol So i dont have much choice in this. I have nowhere to store a table saw. Pushing a 4x8 sheet thru a table saw is a joke also. I wouldnt even try it on my Uncles saw with extended table... lol

Ive been building enclosures with a circular saw for some time now. I dont have trouble doing it (I use a straight edge). It just takes time...

With something like this I will save time.

I ended up ordering the Amazon.com one. Under $60 shipped.

I went with it because:

1) Theres an actual clamp to make the unit SQUARE to the wood (the other didnt have this).

2) I can mount it so the motor is to the clamp side, taking the stress off myself having to hold it up when cutting.

I will do a review when it gets here. If it sucks to E Bay with it! Of I can use the clamp part and toss the saw bass. Hell the clamp part would be handy enough i suppose...

Haven't used a delta unisaw or something similar have you?

I can cut a sheet of plywood so accurate that you can't tell its off w/ a tape measure (1/64"?)

Having a very large table right behind the table saw also helps (plywood goes right onto it after you cut it)

Where are you cutting stuff and keeping your tools now?

I guess if you don't have a garage or anything, a table saw isn't really feasible.
