needs some good, cheap subs (8's or a 10")

Post by MobileAudio219 »

I'm trying to put together a simple little system for the s10. I want to get something like pair of 8's (or maybe 4) or a single 10".

Switching to buckets seats, so I thought about a 10" behind the passenger seat, maybe an external round port that runs across to the drivers side?

Listen to all types of music (except country.)

I'd like to keep the price to around $250. :sad017:

Looking for sql I guess.

SQ: 100% of your attention is focused on achieving prefect sound quality.

SPL: 100% of your attention is focused on achieving the highest sound pressure reading.

SQL: Focusing 100% of your attention on neither perfect sound quality or the highest sound pressure reading. Instead, you focus your attention on building a system that gets decently loud while maintain decent sound quality.

I like the tang bands pretty well. Never heard them, but I like the overall speaker better.

Im def. a SQL guy. Good sound, good loudness makes me happy.

The Daytons also look good, I dont think you would go wrong with either one.

I think what he was getting at was your personal preference. not everyone has the same idea of sql spl or sq. given a bit more information about your tastes he could recommend a better speaker.

Well, are you trying to achieve certain aspects of sq, and get loud doing it?

Tonality? Imaging? Stage?

You throw "SQL" around but what I think you mean is, you want it to get loud and not distort.

To be honest, install is going to matter more than equipment. You want a proper sub stage that is accurate without a lot of distortion down to 20hz? You want to be able to blend it with the midbass in order to acheive that "bass up front" illusion?

Any of the subs mentioned could get you there, just depends on how much effort you put into it.

Sorry, I haven't been getting much sleep... at all!

I listen to pretty much everything, except country and Blink 182 type crap.

Metallica, Pantera, White Stripes, John Cash, Warren Zevon, Eagles, Sublime, etc.

60% SQ, 40% SPL.

Let me know if there's anything else you need....

Still wanting to know what you makes you think something is SQ?

Again, the subs Bill linked are good, but with an 8" sub, you need more to acheive "SPL" remember. Its a cone area and displacement game... Fs also comes into play if you want to bang away on 20hz notes all day.
