I went to Lowes the other day for some stuff, and picked up two sheets of birch plywood. Man is that stuff sexy. I always liked MDF and still do, but man I like that birch. I wish I had made the switch a long time ago.

What do you all think??

what kind of birch did you get? You gotta go for the baltic birch. Coming from a long line of wood workers, I wouldn't buy the china made stuff either, the veneer can chip out as you cut.

Personally I think 7 ply 3/4" isn't that great, and I don't know what home depot carries.

The birch I used in my a pillars was 1/2" and had 9 plys - very nice to work with.

11 or 13 ply is deff the best.

I used exterior grade plytanium (some fancy name for plywood) on the exterior shell of my enclosure in the van tongue and grove but it was also 11ply and it was awesome to work with has great strength and its sanded and coated.

I dont know, I will have to look and see. I paid 40.00 bux a sheet for it. Dont know if that will make a difference or not. Im guessing it is the 7 ply. I will look when I go outside to get started.

How much price difference are talking about?? or does anyone know. I mean if I coulda got 9 ply for xxx versus 7 ply for xxx. Ill just have to check it out.

decent. the 9 ply i used was 1/4" thinner...

once you get into the 11 or 13 ply, you are talking a bit more money...

however, depending on what you use it for, its worth it in the long run.

yes they do, it cuts alot better and it seems to be lighter than mdf.

the birch I got is cabinet grade. I have no idea what that means, but it sounded good. :happy055:
