Ode to My Hero

Romans 8:38. “For I am convinced that neither death
nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the
present nor the future, nor any powers, neither
height nor depth, nor anything in all creation, will
be able to separate us from the love of God that is
in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Dillon Graves went to be with the Lord today at 1:11pm CST in his home in Moore Oklahoma. Dillon was my friend. He was 15 years old at the time of his death and he lived like he was well into adulthood.

Dillon was diagnosed with brain cancer when he was just 6 years old. He has undergone no less than 10 surgeries and countless Chemo treatments, yet in the baldness, he was always able to tell a joke or even just be a kid around you. He didn't let baldness, cancer or his affliction to his brain slow him down. He was a HUGE OU fan, and often got to stand on the side lines together with the team.

Dillon above all was a strong believer in Christ. He was never angry that "God did this to me" or that he didn't have to go through this since he was a Christian. He merely took every step, every day like it was a new day, with new adventures, with new friends.

Dillon and I met when he was in 7th grade, yet only 12 at the time. He was in remission, but, cancer came back shortly after that. It was very near to his brain stem. Surgery got most of it, but the patch that was closest to the stem was inoperable.

Soon this grew to the stem and what everyone worried about; Dillon stayed fast in his faith and looked it head on. Everyone told him it was inoperable, but he had the operation anyway. Going after the cancer, they got about 98% of it. Problem was that left over 2% is what would eventually kill him.

Dillon may be gone but his spirit lives on in each of us that knew him. We will one day get to play basketball with him and Wayman Tisdale. Dillon loved mustangs (especially my best friend’s) and he really loved people.
I am dedicating the build on my car (whatever car that may be) to him, and he will be my inspiration in its design.

Dillon, I will miss you my little brother. But I will see you in paradise.

To my Hero...Dillon Graves April 27, 1994 to July 1, 2009. May you rest in peace.

Heartbreaking.

Good people like Dillion remind us what life is all about and just how precious it really is.

I'm sorry you've lost such a good person in your life, Joe.

Rest in peace, Dillion.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Sounds like he was a great kid. While it's sad that he's gone, he's in a much better place now.

R.I.P Dillion

Please Help!

Hello, my name is Kelsi Smith and I had just happen to run across your page on the web. I had met the Graves family a few years back in Memphis TN at St. Judes Childrens hospital. I was recently trying to get in touch with them, but I have lost all of their information. Is there any way that you could please help me out getting in touch with any of them? I look forward from hearing from you! Thanks so much,
Kelsi
