yeah im finalllllllllyyy getting back to finishing my doors to put those focals in... anyways i went up to lowes and they only had 3/4" mdf wood. i remember getting reccomendations for 1/2" mdf for the ring trims... anyways they had some plywood and a few other kinds of wood in 1/2". does it matter what kind of wood i use? i know mdf is like renowned here and i dont know much about this stuff at all. im just trying to get these templates dones, cut the wood, install the speaker..!

1/2" birch ply would work well for speaker baffles

I agree although I have a board of 1/2" and a half board of 1"4 mdf that I have used before for baffles. I plan on using birch for the new install though.

I use steel! lol. i find it easier to cut holes in metal than i do wood because well i have the tools to do it. I used 8 gage steel for my baffles.

No reason to add that much weight lol... And I don't have that equipment to do so...

1/2" birch all the way. Birch is lighter than mdf anyway. and I like the look of it better.

I'm thinking of making the switch to birch for all my speaker enclosure needs.

it is a bit more expensive but the price difference is worth it.
