Let me break this down for you.

You bought "white van scam" speakers.

Whats that you ask?

Its very cheaply made speakers and boxes in a cardboard box marked with an INSANELY high MSRP that is 1000 times the actual value. In your case its MSRP is $2,600 roughly. In real world value, they might be worth $50... That is if they even last...

While they may be real and legit "Theater Research" product, the brand "Theater Research" isnt as nice as Pyramid, Boss, Pyle, Sound Storm, etc, etc.

Ryan is just trying to point you in the right direction, I took a look at that website posted in the other thread, they don't provide much of any information about these supposedly $2,300 speakers. 3,200 watts??? Umm, OK I'm going to assume that is max which means nothing.

I'm not sure what you mean you checked with the police department either? What did you ask them?
"are these really Theater Research?"
I'm sure he looked at the speaker and said. Sure, that's what it says.

How long have you been doing Car Audio for?

I have been doing it since 1995.

I know what Im talking about. Im not talking down on them, Im simply stating the obvious here.

Those are made in China without a doubt.

Nobody is doubting they are "Theatre Research". That name is a gimmick. Just like Olin Ross and the likes.

Its a White Van Scam items.

Install that if you want. Im just trying to save you some money, time and embarrassment in the end. We dont bash people here unless you ask for it. Im not bashing you. Im trying to educate you.

Take it how you will. I will exit the topic now.

Guys, he bought these from a police auction...not from a white van.

True, the speakers are "white van" material, but, he is just stating that they were bought at an auction, not through a retailer.

I have to say though, just cause it is flashy, doesn't mean it sounds good. I wish you the best with this, but I wouldn't go overboard and get an amp that does even 1000 watts, I would work with a 500 watt amp, and work from there.

This forum is full of car audio enthusiasts, engineers, and competitors. Some of us have been in Car Audio most likely longer than you have been alive. I have been doing this since 1986. Competiting since 87.

While we try to direct you to better (ie: more reputable) equipment, the fact of the matter is that you have already purchased it, so lets make the best of a bleak situation. Buy a 500 w amp, don't go overboard, those speakers WILL NOT HANDLE MORE. Doesnt matter what the box said, or what the website says, they are shabbily made and simply won't do it.

Don't fiddle with the gain trying to get more volume out of the subs, it simply won't matter, those subs are possibly toast already, they were in a police auction.

if you purchase a power acoustic amp, you are already purchasing an amplifier that is 1000 times better than your speakers in terms of quality.

Just use better judgement when purchasing equipment from here on out. We are here to help, just don't push back when we say something that doesnt mesh with your view. We have been there, we have tried that, and we have learned from our mistakes.

Dang joe, that was boo-ti-ful. Are you like Mr. Miagi or something. You speak with such elegance, I am forced to believe that you have Shakespeare or some other well speaking cat in your bloodlines.

Seriously dude, Im all about the benefit of the doubt, but like the others I have seen this stuff before.

You are on the right track with Power Accoustik amp, just dont mess with anything too much and they may sound alright.

Dont get the wrong idea about our board. We have THE most dedicated and well educated forum on the net, we are not busting your bubble, just trying to give you some, i dont know constructive criticism. Tough Love if you will

a buddy of mine bought the white van speakers a few years back, like about 10 years ago. and still has them and they sound pretty decent. they dont sound as good as his infinity set up but not bad at all. and realistically if we didnt have products that were made in china we would have very little to choose from, for example. mb quart, owned by maxxsonics, an american company, designed in germany, built in......wait for it........CHINA!!!! thas a big loop america-germany-china-america....so many people involved in providing you the excellent sound that mb quart speakers have and yet no one bitches cause they are made in china...trust me, ive seen the sticker on the product.

Was it made in the Chinese shop where they have Quality control or was it made in a shop that has a dirt floor?
