So I got this guy...

Post by Ryan from Ohio »

Who wants a box built. It started out with 2 12" Kicker CVX's and a single 15" L5 square...

Now its changed to the CVXs and a set of CVRs. So 4 round speakers- which Im better with...

The box is going to be ported. Theres not enough room to squeeze all 4 subs on one plane. So he starts talking putting subs on angles, etc... WHich obviously make the box harder to build and go up in price... SO it back tracked to putting the subs on different planes.

My suggestion: put two subs facing forward, two facing the rear. Ports firing up. This will be two boxes any way it goes as the two pairs are different...

However the customer thinks he wants the ports all firing to the rear.. Which given the fact of two boxes seems difficult and expensive...

Whats your guys thoughts?

Guy seems decent. Hes learning...

What kind of vehicle and how much power. Come on Ryan, you know better than to share such few details... :nono :

Mixing subs, two subs firing forward, two firing towards the rear? I'd probably be less worried about port placement and more worried about the rest of the cluster f*ck....

Is this fo serious?

Your better off firing 2 front 2 side or 2 front 2 top and ports back.

Wouldnt you run into some major cancellation issues running two firing forward and two firing towards the rear???

I would agree that firing two towards the rear and two firing up or towards the sides would cut down on the cancellation...

Between running different model of subs and firing them in different directions I would think the cancellation issues would be pretty severe?

I'd still think it would be easier to get two nice 12's, or better yet, 15's to sound better and get louder off the same amount of power. It's probably be a bit cheaper and look alot nicer as well...

But you guys know alot more than me, so my comments are really questions... :D

That was the other thought. Trouble is that box wont fit... Unless we take his back seat out and slide it in. I made that comment, he doesnt seem to interested in it.

So my second choice was outlined earlier. As it would have to be two separate boxes...

I will try the seat thing again.

His equipments set. He just traded his 15 for the CVRs... SO he wont go down any. Ive tried... But you know, the customers always "right" sometimes even when they are not.

Firing 2 forward and 2 rear can lead to problems but that's not what i suggested, i think that's Ryan's thinking. I think in this case i would rather not make a few bucks and not have to worry about a pissy/disappointed customer in the end.

Yes two forward two to the rear was my initial thoughts.

Its a bit of an issue as theres no good way of doing this.

my othe thought was to have two boxes. One with the subs facing forward, port up. Then another box sealed, facing the rear.

Bill just might be right also. since its not a good situation might be high times to walk away from it... But likewise this stuff is already in his car... In prefabed boxes... So... ... ... I dunno...

down fire 2 with the opening toward the front and then rear fire the other two... Yes? No?

You would still be able to port to the rear with that set up.
