Just curious if anyone has one of these?

I bought one today and Im working through the setup process now.

$40 for the first year at purchase then $20 a year for unlimited calling inside the US. Comes with free voice mail and caller ID...

I got my phone bill today and felt ever so compelled.

We haven't had a house phone years... But if it works out for you let me know, I'd be interested trying it, sounds cheap enough.

Well iot took about 1 minute to set up. Made a call to my grandmother and still on the phone...lol

It works good so far. But the odd thing was within 5 minutes I got 3 weird calls from a number I dont know. I answered the third call and it was a wrong number from some lady looking for Edgar...lol

Pretty cool so far. If you got high speed internet I think this is a must!

Only downfall Ive found already is that with 512K DSL when surfing the net and talking it can get "patchy" sounding.

My house phone will probably be off in 30 days.

Do you have to leave your computer on all the time?

How exactly does it work?

I seen a thing about it once on QBC or whatever, but didnt pay much attention to it...

I did installs for charter, so I know how their phone system works, but this one looks like it runs off the computer itself... Charter runs off its own phone modem...

It plugs into the USB on your computer. The phone plugs into the unit plugged into your USB.

You need high speed internet.

Ive heard of people trying Vonage and not liking it or the costs associated with it.

This was $40 for the unit and first year, $20 a year thereafter.

They got a 30 day free trial listed on their website until midnight tonight. If you keep it they charge you the $39.95 for the unit and $5.95 for shipping.

Also note if you have a laptop you can take this with you. Hotels, McDonalds wifi, etc, etc.

So you do have to have your computer running to get/make phone calls?

My aunt had vonage and HATED it, she had alot of problems with hers...

I love my vonage. 24 bucks a month unlimited calls to anyone in the US and all my friends can call me all the way in germany for free.

Well that sounds cool.

I know people who had Vonage and didnt like it.

I dont think the magic jack would work for someone in Germany...? Heck dunno.

But for us based calling it seems like a steal! $40 up front and Im going to save $400 a year...lol
