Ehh, 14 years and 267,000 miles will do that... not to mention it was never fast to begain with...

Lets see if your Yota will run that many miles without having to pull the valve covers or oil pan... or replacing/rebuilding the tranny!!! :words

Thats why I need to get another mustang...

I've got an F-body that's doing OK too. It's a little older and just went over 200K on the original motor & tranny (hopefully not for long :D ). By looking at it, as far as I can tell the water pump has never been removed, which means it's on the original timing chain. I do get the GM salute every time I start it or mash the accelerator - needs new valve seals.

I've even had it to the drag strip a couple of times since I've had it - not quick by any means at 15.8, but not bad for a mostly stock 305 TBI (only mod is headers and 3" exhaust). The only thing in the drive train I've replaced is the clutch, and I swapped the 3.08 posi drum rear for a 3.23 psi disc.

I wouldn't go jumping at the Toyota's so quick, we worked on a 4 runner (1990 if I remember correct) a couple months back that had the original motor and trans with nearly 350K mile on it and it was surprising how clean it was for the year and mileage (but it has been only 2 owners and always garage kept).

Toyota has always been great with high milage, provided that you actually maintain the car... I went to the shop the other day and a lady with a 1987 Camry was getting her oil changed... 470k+ miles on it... New transmission but same motor and she said the car has never given her trouble before... pretty amazing stuff... then again i saw a million mile volvo also...

I kid...

My bought the explorer a little over 3 years ago with a tad under 200,000 from the orginal owner. She paid 1200 bucks for it...

She actually just bought it while waiting on an insurance check (kid ran a red light and totaled her previous car), it was surpose to be a temporary ride but she feel in love with it...

We've put a radiator, ball joint, tie rod, and a heater control valve..

It does use ANY oil, I take it to my cousins all the time (2 hours each way) and used it plenty of times to pull my uncles 18ft dovetail trailer with s10's, rangers, mustangs, ect on it...

My uncle had a late 80's chevy 4wd that had the 350 and 4 speed, he'd all scrap cars all day every day with it...

He finally finished the truck off a few years ago, he was driving home after a storm and popped over a hill and ran into a tree that fell across the road...

It had over 350,000 miles on it... The valve guides/seals leaked, but it still ran very strong...

The 4.3's, 305's, 350's are good engines, but the valve guides/seals are really common...
