Help with setting up 4 ch

Post by CaptainPioneer »

Alright I have everything set on my Amp... all wires are perfect and ground is less than 2 ft and clean.

I want to go ahead and power all my speakers now from my new Autotek sm4-1000 but i have some questions. The amp was provided with that highpass conector... Should I use that? I never have before, although the last time I wired up a 4 ch for my speakers it sounded like POOP...

Im hoping that the sq will be much better this time coming from an Autotek

I am getting the source directly from the HU via some nice shielded JL Audio cord and then bridging that over to my sub amp (Hifonics Brutus 1605D) Anything I should be conscerned with?

BTW the HU is a new Alpine iDA-X200

The highpass? are you using the RCA or the highpass inputs.

Yes. there is no need for the High-pass inputs if your using RCA's you want all four RCA's Driver front driver rear passenger front and passenger rear.

I personally only use Front and sub. Needing rear RCAs is install dependent.

Which is why I said install specific. (Can't fade with no rears)

What exactly are you powering with your 4 channel amp?

EDIT: after re-reading your post it sounds like you are powering 4 sets of speakers inside your car. so yes if you want to power the rears and fade them you need 4 channels of RCA

Another thing I noticed is, that deck has SUB out as well. SO - you COULD use 3 sets of RCAs (or a 2 ch and 4 ch) so you can control your sub level from the deck, and possibly crossover between sub and speakers as well (not sure what that deck has)

I think I am going to actually buy 2 more sets of RCA wires for this, Originally I was jumping the signal from my sub-out to my 4ch but instead i think I will go independent now instead of jumping...

I don't really need to fade though as the speakers are in such close proximity to each other but who knows maybe when i transfer all this stuff over to my other car next year I will have that need

Daisy chaining isn't a good idea its a serious loss in quality. use all 3 sets of rca's do it the right way in the beginning.
