My dad bought and received a 1950 Ford Custom. We were dinking around with it yesterday, and when he went to pull the hood release, the handle and cable came with it. We messed around with it for almost 2 hours trying to figure some way of opeening the hood.
I know we got some car guys and mechanics around here, so if anyone could give any idea how to open the hood we would be grateful, we are open to all suggestions on this. We tried going in through the grill with no luck.
I think the cable broke from the actual latch, and pulled through the jacket,
Anybody,
Tim

See if you can get to the hood latch bolts through the grill, pull the bolts and open the hood with the hatch still connected to the hood???

coat hanger through the grill... Can be a huge pain, I've had to do it to 2 cars. One of them had 2 latches - one on either side - it took me like an hour to figure that out. LOL

Well the 50 Ford Custom should be pretty similar to the 50 Merc we've got here and should have a single latch that you can get to and push over with a long screwdriver.

Dad was thinking the same thing, along those lines anyway.
We will give it a try.
