OMG they just legalized Marijuana

My wife just told me that she just saw on the news that Mass. has just stated that as long as people are not cultivating a crop or selling that the police are now ordered to let it go because they have better and bigger crimes to go after... WOW!
I'm not entirely sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing, but stunning either way.

it should. not only did criminalizing all this stuff create a massive blackmarket for illegal drugs (including gangs, all kinds of violence, shittier neighborhoods, tons of people with no hope for a decent future...etc), its the reason why 1% of our adult population is rotting in jail right now, which ib elive is the highest amount among "free" nations.
On top of that, the effects of pot vs alcohol, lol. the ZOMG FEAR republicans want you to think the shit is evil, in realty its mostly harmless.
Another thing, we aren't paying (or shouldn't be) the people running our government to tell us how we can live our lives - including what we can or can't do with our bodies. I think decriminalizing weed and putting a big 'ol tax on it a tthe federal, state, and local level would bring in a lot of revenue for the gov't - not to mention we'd be putting less in jail and wouldn't have to worry as much about getting something laced. hell, eventually crime would hopefully start to lessen. thats being optimistic though. realistically, if the weed was decriminalized the gangs would just start pushing coke and other drugs a lot harder.

Thats not making it legalizied. Its jsut the police are turning away from it. Still illegal.

^ True, but it was the best way to turn the phrase I suppose.
But anyway, I've felt for some time now that it should not only be legalized, but marketed and taxed since after all the affects are very similar to alcohol (as already stated)... I think we as a society would be better off it were controlled vs. just looking the other way.
And keep in mind that these statements are coming from a recovering drug addict.

meh who cares they should legalize it and then tax the crap out of it... just like Cigarettes... I'll bet you anything that cigarette sales go down if they do that

What about meth? Like you said, the gov said shouldn't be able to tell us what we can and can't put in our bodies. Im really considering being an addict.
