Component set

Post by falkenbd »

Ok, I need a good "Bang-for-your-buck" component set.

The plan is to keep the factory location (tweeters pointing at the glass) and deaden the doors. Tweeters might be sunk into the a pillars if there is a noticeable difference in SQ.

So far I have seen CDT Classic comps with 1" silk dome tweeter, some older models seem to be selling for pretty cheap.

Another thought is a Planet Audio set. Anyone know how much these cost?

Cadence has the Clv kits for an alright price direct.

I think $170ish?

i have a set of classics in my truck(CL61a's).. the mids in the doors and the tweets are flushed into the sail panels on a JBL 180.2.. sounds GREAT.... i also just got some kick pods and will be adding another set powered by my little 80.2 for the time being. for the money i think they sound wonderful.. although mine are backed with the 880prs, whatever that may mean to you.. i think it helps a little

the tweets have a swivel, so i have them directed towards me..

Pioneer Premier 720PRS comps if you can afford them. Probably the best bang for the buck comps I can think of...

Probably some good bang, but too much buck. The CDT classics can be had for around $130. The car its going in, the owner is on a tight budget.

the CDT's sound good for sure... not alot of "bass" from em, but they may in the right environment i guess is the word.. but mine get nice and loud and crisp without alot of distortion, and i just think they sound be-uti-ful .. another set of comps i think sound good are the JL XR's comps and them REV comps(yellow ones) from Pioneer

Wouldn't look past the used sets, either. You can get some really good used mid-level comps in the $100-200 range. I got my Aura MRs for a little over 100 bucks.

Get up with Terry on the Planet Audios. I have a set of the 6.5's and I really like them. They have a real good sound, and mine aren't even amped yet.
I have had mine for about 6 months.
