I dug it out of the drawer. I got about 1' of it left. The rest went in the Saturn- thought I pulled it but didnt.
It does flex and move but not near as easy as the IOXS copper stuff I have (also from my drawer stash).
Another thing it does, which I forgot about. After cutting it and messing with it, the core bundles in the center worked out of one side a bit.
Again, the copper wire doesnt do that...
The picture sucks, but shows what its doing.

Copper vs copper clad aluminum. Does the flexibility really matter?
Shouldn't the conductivity be compared and not the flexibility? I did a little bit of my own research while you guys debated over copper vs copper clad...
COPPER-VERSUS-ALUMINUM CONDUCTORS
Although silver is the best conductor, its cost limits its use to special circuits. Silver is used where a substance with high conductivity or low resistivity is needed.
The two most commonly used conductors are copper and aluminum. Each has positive and negative characteristics that affect its use under varying circumstances.
CHARACTERISTICS.........................................COPPER......ALUMINUM
Tensile strength (lb/in2)...................................55,000...........25,000
Tensile strength for same conductivity (lb)..........55,000...........40,000
Weight for same conductivity (lb)..........................100.................48
Cross section for same conductivity (C.M.)..............100...............160
Specific resistance (W/mil ft)...............................10.6.................17
Copper has a higher conductivity than aluminum. It is more ductile (can be drawn out). Copper has relatively high tensile strength (the greatest stress a substance can bear along its length without tearing apart). It can also be easily soldered. However, copper is more expensive and heavier than aluminum.
Granted this is copper vs aluminum. But put a copper coating over the aluminum and you have the best of both worlds. Lightweight aluminum core with the high conductivity coating of the copper coating. Granted it's not solid copper or solid aluminum so conductivity and weight will most likely be somewhere between those numbers posted above.
Not to mention there are varying degrees of quality of copper and aluminum. And there for even more quality possibilities of copper clad aluminum wire.
My opinion is this.....
To each their own. If someone chooses to use cca so be it. It's their choice and it's cheaper. After all maybe you got a bad batch of cca wire.
Sorry, but I started this thread to try and learn from people who know more about stereo equipment than I do. And did not mean for it to end up being a pissing contest on which wire is better.
With that said. I have now entered my 2¢ worth.
Now on to bigger and better things. I just received my new head unit. It's a JVC KW-XG700. I know some of you are going to say JVC????? why????? well.... It's one of the few Double Din styles that I liked. Most of the others looked like crap in my opinion.

This forum is here for people to debate and have opinion's. That's what were doing. Your welcome to that opinion as well. Have you learned even with the pissing contest? If so you have be glad and ignore the rest. Welcome to the internet its like this everywhere all be it quite a bit less here than anywhere else.callandor2k wrote:Copper vs copper clad aluminum. I like that unit. Although not my favorite it will serve you well.

lol whatever. I must be wrong because you said so, right? wrong.Bwcad1 wrote:Sry your wrong.
JVC is good stuff, Im a huge fan. Im not to fond of the unit you got though, its ugly IMO. If I was going double din route I would of went for somehting with more of a screen.callandor2k wrote:Now on to bigger and better things. I just received my new head unit. It's a JVC KW-XG700. No your wrong because the facts say so that being the pictures i posted and others commenting on the wire, But your entitled to an opinion even if you are wrong.Ryan from Ohio wrote:lol whatever. I must be wrong because you said so, right? wrong.

So the wire I have here is wrong?
The wire I have here doesnt fall apart when cut?
The wire I have here the corse doesnt mover around?
I dont think there is a right or wrong just opinion.
The wire is a pile of shit in my experience and I would never recommend it to anyone. Belongs on the same shelf as that Raptor junk. Well maybe a little higher because it can handle its rating... But still.
Im definitely not a fan of that wire. The small price difference is moot. I would side with quality...
But that is just me. To each there own.

All we have of yours is an opinion and a picture of a piece of wire. I worked with KLMX last night. wire didn't fall apart cut just fine and i have no idea what the hell corse moves around means. Your entitled to your opinion and so am i. Im going to express mine whether you like it or not. You can argue your point till your blue in the face. Ive also had a shit load more experiance with this wire than your one run. Ive used it in customers vehicles and my own numerous times. Its quality wire made of aluminum and that makes it cheaper not the quality of the wire.
The negligible price difference is 2-3 dollars a foot and at 20 ft that's quite a bit of money. I dont know about you but if this wire works for me in probably 10+ cars id say it works pretty well. Maybe you have the money to spend on more expensive copper wire like american bass shit, but most of us dont.
