Ok heres the update jls new zr 8inch midbass will have a pricy msrp of 229.99. I called my local authorized dealer he looked it up in their new price book. I can get them for 180 each but still a very very pricy undertaking. So instead im looking for a midbass that can perform better than the kicker ssmb8 they go for a very reasonable price ranging from 100 to 150 per pair.

Geez, that's high for a midbass. Thought they'd put it at a lower price point than that...

Then the SLS would still be my next choice.

What kind of vehicle is this all going in, anyway? Still need to know that to put some thought into what would be best for ya. You may be better off with a 2 way system, ya know. There are plenty of 2 ways that would do well in your price range.

I've read that the SLS 8 shouldn't go over 250ish hz.

He's planning this midrange:

5.5" that wouldn't have a bit of trouble crossing at 200hz or so, or down to 150 or so actually. 200 would be around where I'd cross it over to keep distortion low at high volume levels.

That comparison was with the XLS 8", BTW, not the SLS. Different drivers, though an XLS would be the ideal midbass driver if he could find one.

Yea, I changed the link, I realized that afterwards. They said the SLS has better midbass, the XLS has midrange extension. They don't make the 8" XLS anymore, but from what I understand, many consider I think it was the HDS Nomex 8" to be pretty close.

"Dedicated midbass? XLS 8".
Midbass on a budjet? RS225.
Mid/bass up to 2khz+? Peerless Exclusive 8."
In that thread I linked.
