the most common method...

(coil length - gap height) / 2

its the most basic way to give a drivers potential throw... but it takes nothing into account...

IMO, dumax, or Khippel is the ticket for finding a true linear ability for a driver..

although xmax never will be the true definition of how loud a driver can get.... ex: having a driver with much more suspension travel then coil driven travel, can yield higher SPL then the numbers may suggest.. its called overshoot SPL

also need to clear one thing up...

Xmech is the drivers mechanical limit, just before failure...

if the coil hits backplate @ 34mm, then 34 mm is its Xmech....

further more, drivers can move past their Xsus... but not their Xmech...

and finally.... drivers still have flux induced throw past Xmag, although past xmag, drivers have a predictable rolloff, with decreasing control from the motor, and increasing distortion...

and feel free to ask anymore questions you desire.... I've spent several years studying subwoofer drivers, and their topologies... its my speciality if you will..

i just heard my first XXX yesterday, powered by a Orion 2500D... it was crazy ass loud and sounded so good... i loved it.. one of the best moments in my life.

He's not a jackass. he was trying to get people to start talking, which he did.
I'm sure he couldn't care less if you buy anything from him or not, truth be told.

This forum is a friendly atmosphere, unlike many others, and pointless insults will not only get you a negative reputation, if it continues, it could get you removed at the behest of other users, if they feel you ultimately have nothing positive to offer here and thus ask for your eviction.

just a friendly word of warning. it doesn't help anybody to go out of your way to attack someone unprovoked.

ok justin, since im in the market for new subs its probably gonna be between, 3 RE SE's 2 RE SX's or 2 of your 12 inch subs. I dont wanna spend any more then 660 dollars for em shipped. (I can get 3 se's for about 660 shipped and the 2 SXs cheaper i believe) can you give me a price on 2 of your 12s?

Mith, take a look at those Ascendant Audio Atlas 12" subs, too.
same XBL^2 motor topology as the adire brahma and RE XXX. much less expensive.
