If you or ANYONE knows anyone who can help me out I would appreciate it.

I need to know if I can cut the plugs and splice to the newer alternator.

From what Ive found:

95 Rivi
Red= Generator
Gray= unknown

05 Impala
Red= Generator turn on signal
Orange= appears to be battery + voltage?

At this point Im thinking the red wires are the same which would lead me to belive I can just splice the other wire in without issue.

I just need someone to confirm it (hopefully they know WTH they are talking about).

I thought you were the switching brackets/acessories over from the old engine???

Are the wires the same colors? If so, youre probably good to go....

I'd make sure that the cam/crank positioning are the same as well....

I made a thread here http://mymonte.com/discussion/index.php?showtopic=25845 and they might be able to help you..

If they dont answer, I can probably find out for you on monday...

No.

Both connectors have a red wire. The older one has a gray wire in it and the newer one an orange wire.

Theres 4 pins coming off the alternator. Only two are used.

Im guessing here that its a relay of sorts to turn the flow from the alternator on....?

Excellent. I didnt even think of that!

I know the stock Rivi is 140 amps. The stock Impala is 105 Amps. ya its a decent difference but we all know theres more there than needed.

I really dont want to pop that motor out again but I will if its a must. Its about 2-3 hours of more work I suppose...

Ryan, if you dont get it figured out tomorrow let me know, I know a guy who works at the local GM dealer who might be able to print out the wiring diagram for you...

If not, my uncle probably has a book out at the shop that will cover it.

:excited:

Last night when I was working on this alone I was tired and very hungry.

Today when I went back over and started pulling some bolts off the old engine I noticed the whole thing was modular! So 3 bolts and it popped right off. To the one off the motor in the car and put the old one on- done.

I got it all pretty much buttoned up right now with exception of the 3 flywheel bolts, covers down there and oil/antifreeze.

Should have it going drive it home tonight... maybe.

Gotta deal with my kid though :(

Well I still haven't heard back from Nate yet... Probably out of town for the Holiday weekend... Although I'm sure you'd still like to throw that 140 amp on there if possible so I'll let ya know when I do :)
