I just found out that with a Vortech Supercharger, an upgraded fuel pump, 4:10 gears, and kooks headers, I can get into the 11's with my Mark VIII.
If you have enough power, you can get a turd like mine into some really fast times.

I just get tired of sitting at lights and having some kid in his mother's Acura rev up and give me stares, like he thinks there's any way in hell he'd stand a chance. It's not even worth the effort
If it makes you feel any better I get the same dumb kids pulling up to the Stealth
And I agree that the Twin Turbo model has too much weight with the awd/ aws and so forth, not to mention small factory turbos that weigh a ton. This is why I went with a naturally aspirated fwd version and built it up.
One of my buddies has a 91 TT version 3000gt and I smoke him... and my single gt40 turbo is still a long way from under the hood, but that's why I built it up to begin with.
And I agree with you on the cookie cutter syndrome of bolt ons, but some are smart enough to know that if you want full potential out of that 4 popper, you've gotta do the internals too. Otherwise when you dial up the boost it just goes BOOM
How did we get from talking about our dream cars to this anyway

add new hotter cam, and ECM reprogramming, and you'll be well into the 11s and have a lovely lope at idle too.

You can be Felix in this odd couple, I'll be Oscar (he was always my favorite)
And now all the kids are saying: "What is this odd couple thing all about and who are Felix and Oscar?"
