we pulled the box with the sub in it, out of my trunk and put it in the back of his burban and hooked it to his kicker amp. (i had another coworker out there with us so he helped me lift it outta my trunk). it freakin wanged. this was around teh time i fried my tantrum 1200.1 so i didn't kno how it sounded. it was hella loud and i don't think it was even getting around 1000rms. this amp is barely pushing it now. idk. i paid $350 shipped i believe for the amp. like i said tho, he never used it and the guy he got it from never mentioned any problems with it. i'm thinking it's my headunit cuz the pre-out voltage is only 2 volts. that's pretty low.High Society wrote:Might be your ampwould you used your buddy's did you take his out and hooked it up to your system, or just ran wires from his amp to your sub?

Did you check your RCA wires? I've used 2v cd players and it worked fine. Hopfully it is your CD player. Look for a low cost alpine or eclipse to replace it since your low on cash. They wont have any flashy graphics, but it will get the job done. Take your CD plaeyr out, and recheck everything

the rca's were new never used. it doesn't matter which channel the rca's are plugged into right as long as their hooked up to the hu and amp? i do have another set already ran to my hu and back to the amp cuz i do have another amp i will use for my components. but there could be something wrong with my hu cuz everytime i went to push a button on the deck, i could hear "thumping" coming from the woofer. maybe it has somethign to do with the rca's.
i do have a jvc headunit but i don't have the wire harness for it.

yes. i made sure of that yesterday. i only found 2 wiring mishaps. 1 yesterday and one today. the speaker wires were switched around. i might play with those again and see if that changes anything. and also the amp turn-on lead was tied to the power antenna instead of the turn-on lead at the hu. all the power wires and ground wires and remote and rcas are correct. could the common ground point poise in this problem?sinister audio wrote:you have the Rcas going to the input of the amp right?

If you have a voltmeter or know someone who does, you need to check the voltage output of the RCAs to see if it's decent output. With a 0db reference tone you should be able to get around 2V, with music it'll be much lower than that, though. You should still be able to get a decent voltage output from the RCAs.

it's about 2-3 years old. i had one a model higher than this one (my mom's) but it was stolen outta my truck. i had bb install my kenwood i bought to replace it so idk what they did with the harness. and we pulled this one outta my mom's old car cuz my dad accidentally flooded it so we left the harness in the car.High Society wrote:What year and model?
