another thing done on occasion, is a cross-path for the front stage, instead of aiming each speaker set right at your head, to give a wider soundstage, if you know how to work with phasing to align the two signal paths. Anyway, you want to avoid beaming, but make sure both paths are unobstructed, and be careful of reflective surfaces like large glass panes in the same path as your head. First and Second order reflections can really mess ya up.
Another note on axis alignment: Be aware that different speakers perform much differently off-axis. Some have a very wide dispersion, and others much narrower. This will greatly affect how they respond in your car.
Kick pods are widely regarded as a great location in many cars for front stage placement. They allow you to have the speakers on-axis (pointed at you as opposed to across the cabin left to right, so the speakers are in phase with your ears, reducing cancelation and reducing the need for DSP manipulation which is always a plus.) they are discrete, and they can give a good location for reducing path obstructions and reducing beaming with longer, straight signal paths that are easily adjusted or tweaked with a little time alignment work from the DSP.
there's a lot to consider when you get into a well designed system for SQ. That's been my goal for the past twenty or so years, and I still don't know it all.

That area down near the floor looks like it gets lots of foot traffic.
I would personally try to stick it (noooo, not up my bum) just above the factory speaker grill. That empty spot in between your change dish, truck popper button, speaker grill and below the door handle there.
I'm no pro and am more of the resident douche around here I think. But I'm pretty sure it would sound better if it were placed in that spot above the grill. It would definitely be safer up in that area, I'm sure.
