I got 2 rod bearings spun/gone I took one off. The crank has some nice ridges in it....
:(
Ehh, that sucks...

I'd probably just look for a good low milage motor at this point...

I pulled mine apart today as well, turned out to be a headgasket...

I got the motor pulled out yesterday. About 6-8 hours to get it out.

Ive been holding out looking for a deal and it found me.

picking up a motor/transmission combo with 41k on it for $300. Removing the trans and reselling it on Craigs List or flea bay for $300.. lol

New motor. its from an 05 Impala with 41K on it. Basically the fuel injectors and ALL sensores have different plugs so they all need to be swapped out. Also the alternator... Grrr....

Pheeewwwwweeee what a day...

I figured it was going to be an easy day. Man was I WRONG.

It all started off having to scrape a gasket off. After 15 minutes of scraping with a brand new razor blade I had about 10% off it off. So I said F This and went to get some Gasket Remover.

1 1/2 hours later I get back- since the close by NAPA doesnt carry anything... I had to run into the city 20 minutes away...

Get back, get the gasket scraped. My Uncle shows up to help (finally). So we put the motor on the Cherry Picker and start dropping it in. Go to get my new exhaust flange gasket... NOT THE RIGHT ONE.

Fast forward 3 1/2 hours later... still no gasket. No parts stores carry them period- eventhough they say they do? Its showing an incorrect part on their systems...

So we get the motor in. Exhaust out on but not bolted in. Get the tans tied together. Cool... Well the Exhaust stud that came out turned out to be junk. So another trip 20 minutes away to end up with a long bolt and washer...lol

So I get it together.

Then I find out the serpentine belt was around the mount right. 3 tries later having to tear the total motor mount off I get it. Prgoress!

Then I go to put the alternator on.

:surprised

Forget about it... I got two choices...

1) Pull the new motor back out and swap the water pump housings. Which I absolutely DO NOT want to do.

2) If the system is compatible, cut the alternator plug off and wire up the plug from the newer alternator. Different plugs but both plugs are only utilizing 2 wires. So I think this is possible.

Need to research this out first.
