Need advice on Camaro speakers
Yes it did have power windows and the answer is: MDF rings... build out the side about 2+ inches ( 3 pieces of 3/4" MDF back to back)... We did ours with a dremmel tool so they were slanted outward, then carpeted over... This helps with fitment for depth and you don't lose a ton of space

Do you happen to have any pictures of the doors?
I've been trying to think of how I want to do mine, and would like to see more examples from a 3rd gen.

Okay, finally started tearing into it (been busy). Dash speakers were stock 4x6's with some sort of cap and resistor spliced into the line. There is almost no room in either the doors or the dash for anything much bigger than stock. I might be able to hack the dash a bit and fit some small comps in there (5.25's maybe), but that's about it.
I was thinking something like these up front:
http://www.bostonacoustics.com/car/car_ ... duct_id=91
and maybe these in place of the 6x9's:
http://www.infinitysystems.com/car/prod ... PERFECT6.1
I'm not looking for a killer bump, or to go way loud, just a decent quality system that's not going to cost me out my a**. Feel free to add any suggestions, as I may be way off track here.

Those Boston Acoustics should fit OK in the dash. You may have to apply some heat to the side window defrost ducting to soften it up slightly and mold it for clearance. I'm looking to something similar with my 89 RS along with a mid-bass driver in the kick or door, a 3-way component set-up with crossovers on the front channel.
What you have in mind for the sail panel will fit OK, I've done similar with my 92 by using a piece of hard board (peg board minus the holes) over the opening and making my own holes for 2 speakers - a 6 1/2" and a 4", but I did mine for loud and have the fader set just slightly to the front to maintain front stage
Like this, works good for me...

I am also entertaining the idea of a shallow mount 8" or 10" woofer in each sail for the 89, Pioneer and Clarion both have some that appeal to me, the ones from Tangband don't look too bad either.

Yeah, something like this looks like it would drop in like cargodz suggested:

Those would work perfectly
