Lpf?
I am waiting for my mother to come home from work with a DMM, but w/e. The guy at circuit city said hes been installing systems for 4 years, so if the amps set up all wrong, ill just either buy a type R, a different amp, or a ported box. As of right now all I have is $185, so I can only get one thing out those three.....I just want to find out why all my shit was set up like that in the first place if its so bad for the subs.....
Will a ported box make a big difference If I got a good one? Right now im thinking thats my best option considering I'd have no money for an amp if I got one 10" type R

I don't place much trust in Circuit City installers, and neither does a lot of the people on here. And for good reason. Many of them just aren't as educated as they should be. Not that the one that installed your amp was or wasn't. I wouldn't know, but it not being setup correctly could be directly related to the fact that the installer WASN'T properly educated.
As far as your amp not being setup right, the gain is all you really need to set. The HPF/LPF is strictly for application. The gain very well could have been set right, but a gain set that high automatically puts up an alarm signal. Couple that with a CC/BB install and you catch my drift.
A ported box won't make a huge difference, but it will be louder.
Any reason you want to get another 10" sub and not a larger diameter if you decide to get another one? You said you like volume. Larger diameter = more volume.

I dont think I am going to get the sub, Im probly just gonna stick with gettings the box. There is nothing wrong with the subs I have now (personally I like them), but they have been making a weird noise on certain bass lines from certain songs that I dont recall them making when I first got them installed. I dont know how this happened, or why it happened, but im hoping that with a ported box, I can get louder sound and a little bit deeper bass. Any suggestions on ported boxes? I was looking at these two earlier

It's going to be hard to say what size you should go for since you don't have the T/S parameters or anything. I would guess that it's not going to need a ton of room, so either of those will probably work. I don't see what they're tuned to however, and that's something you should know.
And as long as you like the speakers you're running, there's no reason to get new ones.

It'll definitely make it at least a little bit louder. Videos aren't going to show you anything. If someone had an FR graph of that exact sub in the exact boxs you'd have yours in, it'd be applicable. Otherwise, it's really up to you. If you have even basic wood working skills, you could build the new box yourself for around the price of those crappy pre-fab boxes.
