i turn my car on accessory just to test everything and i start fooling with my gains and settings (mind you i'm not cranking anything) and the sub is barely getting any power to it.

I hope you have a battery that can handle all this. What gauge wire are you running from you batt to your amp? Are you sure you dont have the sub wired outta phased? Take the sub out and check that first. Aslo i fyou havn't already upgrade the "big 3". And get a new Alt and Batt, to handle this type of load. Has it been very loud before then all of a sudden stoped being loud? Or his hasn't been hitting hard since you got it?

well master is just if you have another amp strapped to it and you wanna use this amp to control the other one.

i'm running 4 gauge throughout. just waiting on a friend to pull his 1/0 out of his vehicle and send it to me. and i'm pretty sure i looked at the sub before i put it in. the guy pulled it out of the box for shipping but left everything hooked up and i never touched the vc wiring. and i do have the wire for the "big 3" but i'm waiting on some crimp connectors in the mail. alt and batt are outta the question for a while cuz i only get paid bi-weekly and a majority of my money go to bills. i'm on a tight budget right now. and this is the first time i've hooked this setup up. i've had the sub but was waiting onthe amp, then i finally got the amp installed cuz i had a crimp connector laying around.

Well I would take the sub out, and make sure you have everything hooked up right. You sure it's hooked up for a 3ohm load, and not a .5 load. Does your amp go into protection? I would really look into upgrading your alt and batt soon. What kinda box is this in? Is it built to the specs of the w7?

ya but if you have it set on slave then it wont use any of the amp settings and itll be like its not recieving any input or barley any.

the amp i set it to either gain or master. (it's got 3 notches). the box is a HO pro-wedge box built by jl audio to specs for the 13w7. and either way if it was hooked to .5 or 3 ohms, it should be wanging away. the orions can run .5 ohms daily with no problems and sometimes even lower. and the amp's power light stays on now no problem. i really don't have $210 for a 200amp alternator and money for a batt. i only get 2 paychecks a month. one goes strictly to bills and the other goes towards gas, food, and whatever else i need so i don't make much.

hmmm, well 1400 or more watts on a stock system isn't good. Are sure about the orions running that low? What year is that amp? I thought the new ones wouldn't go lower then 1? Have you tried a diff amp? Check your wiring, you can never check it to manytimes. Do you know how to take out JL subs? If not http://www.jlaudio.com they have a pdf on how to remove it and put it back in.

I would be carfull not to run your system verylong on a stock system too.

i was running 1478rms on my stock system from a kx1200.1 and 2 12L7's and i had minimal dimming. i kno how to take the sub out cuz i had to put it in the box. it was a bitch cuz the thing is like 60+ lbs. and i've been reading on caraudio.com forums and people over there say that the orions can handle .5 daily with no problems. idk what year it is as i bought it used off of this guy. and i had a pg tantrum 1200.1 before this but i forgot to fuse it and fried it. we hookd my sub up to my coworker's kicker amp and the thing freakin wanged like no other. was louder than his cvr 15. the guy i bought the amp from never used it so he doesn't kno anything about it as he got it in a trade with someone else.

Might be your amp

would you used your buddy's did you take his out and hooked it up to your system, or just ran wires from his amp to your sub?
