Wh yare you buying alts? In competition you can't have the vehicle running, so the alt will do no good. What's the point?

Depends on what class and what organization you are in.

Talk to your insurance agent and see if they can devise a way to make it lower.

$80/month is crazy. Hell I didnt pay but $179/6 months for liability on the Buick... 100/50 limits also... ;)

So you are making an SPL vehicle you plan on sitting in at comps? HO alts don't put out their max until around 3-4000 RPMS. How do you plan on keeping it that high?

i am using two custom alternators 250 amp alternators that put out 150 amps at 900 rpm im working on a mechanism that will hold the engine at 1500-1700 rpm which is legal in meca M3 it will also carry 3 batterys. 250 amps plus the batterys should be enough to power my amp for 5 seconds.

Why not just do somethign with gears to make the alts spin faster? Like have a gear so its 1:1 then on the flip side have a 1:4 gear to get to around 4K RPM@ the alt?

THe many uses of gearing...hmmmm... easy as pie...
