then your distoring the front speakers back the gain down some.
follow these intstructions and you should be fine.
Set your HU to 3/4 volume. adjust the gain till you get the maximum output WITHOUT DISTORTION adjust till you hit distortion then back off slightly. IF they make any noise other than what there intended to (Subs = Bass) (Speakers = Full range) turn the gain back down some.
for example, my regular speakers have a range of 0-35 on my head unit, and they are powered by the amp on the head unit. if i go past 16 on my head unit, they will start to distort badly.
well how do i tune the amp in my head unit so i can play the music at ranges at 25-26 volume instead of 16 being the highest? i think the problem is that my subwoofer wants to have its maximum power at around those levels (25 26) while my speakers wont go above 15 without distorting.
atlbravesfalcs7 wrote:ok, so would it be normal to have the amplifier having a gain of over 50%?
it seems kind of high. another problem may be that the ipod i have connected has a certain equalizer. would that also affect it?
Its all based on what your head unit output voltage is. They can be anywhere on the dial.

my amp says that at 4 ohms, its 220 rms. and i will be powering 2 alpine s 1223D subwoofers both at 4 ohms in the two channels.
so first i should multiply 220x4=880 and then square root of 880 = 29.66. does that seem right?
Just do what i told you a bunch of posts ago. forget the math. If this is stressing you out stop ****ing with it and take it to a pro. For a few bucks they will set it up correctly and you wont have to stress.
