I've gotten several sweatshirts and gloves, about 20 bars of soap some chapstick and a few bags of cookies. lol. I took a load of stuff out this morning. Wow. They were like kids to candy. Seriously. The practially mauled each other to get to me. I need to be more discreate next time I go over there. I didn't expect them to react that way. But they were very grateful and most of them shook my hand.

lol, I just noticed your santa hat :happy055:Airforceyooper wrote:I never really stop and talk too much except the guys in front of the house area I live in. I don't like to stay on the street too long. There are no sidewalks, we have to walk on the street from the entry point to the camp to the entry point to my houseing area. And I found out today that the guys guarding the street and what not aren't even police. They're more like hired guards. So now I feel even less safe then I did before. lol. I have no idea what these guys make. Anyway, there are usually two or three at the camp gate, maybe four. there are usually two at the one road crossing and then another three or more at the gate into my house area. There are a lot more up and down the street at different points, but I'm not going to wonder around to talk to anybody. lol. Sometimes I run into them inside the house area. I'll try to talk to them more there. Some speak English better then others. There are two or three main languages (dialects) here. I don't speak any of them of course. Anyhow, There are three or four that I talk to more then the others due to the language barrier. Some of them live in the same housing area I live in. but they live in like big closets and stuff. They have these guys stuffed in some rediculous places, even worse then the porch I live on.

yeah, I added that last night. :) These 16+ hour days are kicking my ass. I guess it's all good. I'll get a day off in another 135 days or so.

Hey all, I received a box today from Wal-Mart. I'm guessing it was from Chris. Either way, I'll post thank you notes each time another box arrives from Wal-Mart as you guys are the only ones shipping from Wal-Mart direct that I'm aware of. Thank you very much.
And thank you to Michael too. I received a package from him as well.
You guys are great. A little tid bit of information you'll probably never get on the news there is that the last of the coalition forces backed regional hospitals has been build in Afhgnaistan. That's a pretty big deal if you think about it, but something the news will never run since nobody died. We're also delivering the first shipment of M16s to the Afghan National Army, and the Afghan National Air Corps received their first donated helipcoter from one of the coalition contries. They're getting a total of about 12 I think. And some cargo planes as well. Great strides are made every day in the country, which is only the size of Texas if you didn't already know that. lol.
Anyway, thank you guys for supporting me and the Afghans. The sooner we get them on their feet, the sooner we all can come home!

It's great to hear that all of us have jumped on board to help the guys that help keep you safe
And it's really nice to hear some good news from over there, cause yeah unless there is an explosion, downed aircraft, or people killed we don't hear much from the media... It would be nice to hear some pleasant view from the news too :)

You know all those suicide bombings in Kabul Afghanistan? We can usually hear them all here on the camp. Some of them are just down the road. One was about two blocks away. Sounded like it was right behind our building.
But for every one of those, there are plenty of other things that are not bad that could be talked about, but aren't. If you're bored and feel like reading, go to cstc-a.com and download the latest Enduring Ledger. It's great becuase I make it! :) lol. And I only have four left after the Jan. issue in a couple weeks.
