Abit and gigabyte are certainly good as well. I can only recall one problem i've had with abit, and everything else has been good.

it was a dumb thing that i probably shouldn't hold against them anymore, but i had reliability issues with their VERY FIRST pentium-2 board (first board with slot 1). but on the flip side, i can't recall any serious issues with any asus boards. I still have an old P3V4X (pentium3-EB 533mhz) board that continues to chug along just fine in a 24/7 rackmount server. I also still have the A7N8X Deluxe v.2 board which was one of the only decent boards to support 400Mhz FSB on the athlon XP3200+ chips. THAT was a freakin' bad-ass board in its time.

That one package looked alright for $225 until I added some stuff and it was upto $400!
