So you would think... they had a Wardrobe Malfunction... what the hell other interesting terms are they going to invent?

Ya know, I like some of Lacuna Coil's stuff (I have three of their CD's) but overall I feel the songwriting is lacking. And listen closely to the female vocalist's recessed mix. Her vocals are never upfront and center....they're always recessed in the mix. Are they trying to hide her shortcomings?

Not really that, a lot of the music seems to be getting heavier and it's overshadowing her voice. Sucks, she sings SOOO well. Listen to her live (or download a clip of them live) sometime, she's the real deal. Plus, the record company isn't the greatest, but they're getting better. I think the lyrics are good, it's mainly the guitars, a lot of the songs could afford to be less heavy or at least clearer.

If you want to hear her voice more, listen to Falling (note: there is falling, which is the acoustic version from their self titled EP, then there is Falling Again from the "In a Reverie" EP. I'm talking about the former acoustic version), the acoustic version of Swamped, stuff like that. Their older albums had her more upfront.

I'm telling you though, listen to Within Temptation's most recent album, "The Silent Force". She has an angelic voice and a huge range, and their music is well recorded.

Thanks for the info.

I really like Heaven's A Lie (and most of Comalies for that matter) but much of Lacuna Coil's stuff just doesn't move me.....and I really want to like them.

Aegis is a great CD. Check out the new Leaves' Eyes Vinland Saga CD if you haven't yet, I feel Liv's vocals are even better on that than the TOT stuff, which is really saying something because her voice is incredible. Just whether you can get into that kinda stuff, it is more of a fantasy CD than it is down to earth kinda stuff.

I concur with Karmacode, Comalies and such. The more I listen, the more I prefer the earlier CDs due to the rawer sound. It's a little more "honest" if you will.

i usually prefer that "type" of music to have male vocals, more so growling type.. but i can tolerate it.. i like the music, but i am just too into "heavier" stuff.. so while it may be nice and soft, it needs to have some evil, lol.. check out The Sins Of Thy Beloved.. awesome band, my favorite in that genre..

also here are a few other good bands:

Sirenia
Opera IX
After Forever

also Leaves Eye has a new cd called Legend Land from 06', Vinland Saga is from 05'
