My uncle actually found a new Sig 9mm for $500, which he did not pass up.

Also, that .45 ammo cost is another reason I didn't go .45.

On a side note, I went to the range today and shot off about 80 rounds or so (split with my dad). Firing a handgun is much much harder than a rifle. I had no idea. One thing I learned, is to try to keep the gun firm and hold back the recoil. It is much more accurate that way for some reason.

Let me rephrase that...

If I ever lived anywhere where I had to think about "what nearby neighborhood I wouldn't want to enter unless I was armed", I would move, immediately, and I mean that without exaggeration. :surprised

I hardly live in a prestigious area (a small suburb outside of Buffalo, NY), my home is not worth much more than $110K, and I can't think of an area that I have ever been in around here that I felt like I needed a weapon of any kind... and that's 33 years of experience talking.

So obviously my thoughts are, if you live that much in the ghetto that you feel you need to carry a gun, or actually know people who carry a gun... maybe it's time to reevaluate your life and the weird twisted values that must be inherent to your neighborhood and the people you live around who just might not have their heads screwed on all the way - or you might risk becoming one of those people... :surprised AND more importantly, it's hardly difficult or expensive to escape that fate. :thumbsup

It almost feels like a Jeff Foxworthy joke to me...
"If you find yourself bragging, about having things that you know most people think are 'ghetto problems'... then you might be an urban redneck"

I could be off base, but if I found myself thinking this way, I'd simply move somewhere more sane, where I was surrounded by more sane people. Thank god I am - it wasn't by accident. ;)
