Sorry guys, and don't take my comments as a bash towards your list in particular either... but you have Coustic, US Accoustic, Crossfire in the recommended good list... and all Sony (except old ES) as bad. Thats just misguided. By that logic, you'd have to put Pioneer right next to Sony, since both companies have subs, amps, and decks at walmart.

But lets look at a few comparisons from the "bad" list:

I would definitely not have Phoenix Gold as anything other than Good, same goes for Sony, and SAS Bazooka (bass tubes) is a pretty bad way to spend your money.

And finally... Iraggi Alternators as highly recommended is a real bad idea.


So, nobody here would choose Audiobahn? I did, a 400wt mono amp and I assure you, theres absolutely nothing wrong with it.

Does anyone here think Lawyer Milloy would drop that kind of coin in a shop, and then drive away from there with it sounding like shit? Do you think the installers would let their name go on something like that, if it sounds like shit? Just like almost any other product on the market... it can be done right and made to perform.

There might be 1,000 different brands to choose from...
But theres less than 20 buildhouses making all the shit.

One company might be excellent, and suddenly go straight downhill... such the case with Audiomobile, Iraggi alts, eD, etc... Alpine decks are losing features as we speak. I also witnessed an F#1 Status w/ defective display, out of the box... so should it come off the highly recommended list now?

Other companies can rise up from the ashes as well... but brands such as Kove, will be doing so under new ownership. As is Resonant Engineering. What will be the future of their products now?

What of US Amps and Zapco making cheap lines in China/Korea now?

What of MTX offering me mediocre amps at real amp prices, being sold by pinheads at CircuitShitty?

I don't like any lists, I don't like brand bashing at all really...
My whole point was to be careful of reading too much into such lists.

They are pretty damn subjective.

I can go on ICIX and get a list
CAF and get a list
ECA and get a list
SD and get a list
On and on...

All compiled of personal experiences and mostly of opinions...
None of the lists will match exactly. None of the lists will stay the same, unedited, over time. Things change, opinions change, quality changes.

You find praise and bad mouthing everywhere online for every company. Certain boards are all over certain brands, while others all over the opposite.

I like lists like the Sound deadener showdown.
Comparable products, all tested and reviewed, and a pretty fair overall comparison is made. Now that I can relate to. A list of "this sucks, that don't" and based on... ???? Sorry, I can't relate to that.

ever occur to you that the reason so many lists exist is because we all get tired of all the retarded "this brand vs that brand" threads and "what should I get" threads, and "is this brand any good?" threads we get flooded with on a daily basis by all of the noobs too lazy to do any research for themselves? Same reason we have a FAQ section here that coversmost of the stuff you could just as easily find with a simple google search.

If you don't like the lists, don't use em. If someone else chooses to use them as a starting point, that's their call.

The lists aren't any more subjective than your own limited experience or opinions.

Gonz, if you don't like the list, don't use it just as Glass said. That list is coming from people who have plenty of experience withthe products. Glass has beendoing this for years and has seen / installed almost every brand on there. Me owning a shop, I have sold and installed most of the brands on there. I may not agree with a few of them, but I realize that my one good experience doesn't erase 10 people's bad experiences with the same company. That list was the colaboration of people with lots of experience in the field. You are easily seeing 80+ years of experience going into that list.

Sure, it may not be 100% accurate, but whena list is opinion based, it never will be. But like Glass said, it for sure gives the noob's a place to start rather then posting 15 threads like "Is this Legacy amp any good?" or "Which should I get? Pyle or Pyramid?".

Like Glass said again, feel free to write your own list, start your own message board, and post it all you want.
