Good car alarm brands
Good thinking.
When you decide what alarm setup you want, go to the MFR site and look up their authorized dealers in your area. If you go unauthorized for install, don't expect to get any warranty... that could end up really bad.
AstroStart listed 3 dealers in my area, and I called em all. Estimates went from $600 installed, down to $345 for the system I wanted... so be sure to make a few phone calls.

i have a prestige platinum aps-996a all in one remote start alarm all that good stuff and i love it hasent let me down and the range is great i think the book states half a mile but it wont do that if your in a building. it does get a lil pricy if you start adding all the modules 2 it. and for 8 or 9 bucks a month you can get a lowjack equivelent/on star thingy that goes with it.

gonz, I entered my zip, and it gave me this http://astroflex.findlocation.com/results.aspx so does that mean these shops are dealers? I've been in both of em, and never even seen a astrostart banner or anything. I know one listed keys, has compustarTheres a company called AstroStart... they make remote starters, but incorporate Alarm and Keyless entry modules. Basically, a complete 2-way system.
They have double the range of DEI products (Viper, Python, etc..) at 2000ft. and also, offer LED remotes. The LED remote has a much longer battery life than LCD... but they do offer both types. The systems feature a lifetime warranty when installed by a dealer, and pricewise, you can't beat this stuff.
Their site is here - http://www.astroflex.com/index.php?module=CMS&id=15

Well they should both be dealers. Just give a call, tell them you want an Astrostart - (the model number you're interested in) and ask how much installed... with or without the optional stuff.High Society wrote:gonz, I entered my zip, and it gave me this http://astroflex.findlocation.com/results.aspx so does that mean these shops are dealers? Remember, this is a remote starter first. Optional alarm module, and optional keyless entry are two seperate things. Combined, they make a really nice unit.
Like I said, for me the whole shot, 2205 2-way model with start/alarm/entry is $345 installed. http://www.astroflex.com/index.php?modu ... 19&page=19 This model has the LED remote which will be easier on batteries than the LCD version.
Hopefully you could get one done for close to that price.
Man my compustar was like $700installed...remote start, alarm, dome light protection, trunk, and the priceyness was doing the remote start on a manual car. Regardless, it's incredible. I've had it for over a year and I've changed the batteries three times? Maybe four times. Great range...3000ft or so.

Something like 2W900FMR..its not the spread spectrum one (the really far reaching nice one) its a pretty slick blue remote. $400 installed seems cheapHigh Society wrote:Hey gonz, I went up there and told em I looked them up and saw they were dealers for them, but he said not anymore, that they only sell compustar.

Considering the alarm is a $400 system and $300 install you would be getting a hell of a deal.
Thats the alarm I bought and sold. Bought on E Bay shipped for like $250...
