Raul,

Maybe its not the lack of engineers or design. Maybe its just lack of quality as in made in Asia stuff...

With the product I've dealt with from a/d/s since the buyout, it isn't so much that they've degraded their engineering or technologies, it's more of a failure to improve their product to keep up with the rest of the market.

Maybe...

But 'Maybe' doesn't give us the right to negative assumptions. Overseas production does not readily = bad quality. But rather poor QC does. And poor QC is not directly correlated to a geographic region of the globe.

That is a thought process that is fairly popular on many forums that is hardly supported by facts. So what if a few people have trouble with x brand every now and then... Guess what??? you'll find at least one of those guys for every single brand name.

I personally would hold a published research done on companies as a more reliable source of inside information than any popular thought process aquired from forums from questionable individuals. Cause quite frankly, there are many biased individuals out there that lack the expertise & you can't readliy weed them out becuase it is rather impossible from where we sit.

I do see the lack of new products from ADS, it's pretty obvious that they are due for something new, considering the asking price for their products. Yet this still does not provide enough information to tag their current products as poor quality. They were good products when they came out. And should be considered as good as they were then unless scientific data can support it rather than hearsay...

Quite frankly when you consider the demand for eye candy from the tuner crowd that has caused just about everyone to offer products lines for that market, ADS does stand out in a positive way in my eyes.

Anyways... just my .02 cents... Just fishing for reliable info, we all could benefit from it.

Here is my 02 on this and in my position I have a good view at the overseas quality. Raul I disagree with you on the bad qc practices. in my industry tooling engineer I have no choice but to ship some of my dies to china because of budget requirements, what I do see is a lack of quality in the materials manly metals. The metals in china and other Asian country’s are far less robust so to speak as they are over here. They iron ore from the area is much less suited for creating irons and steels the quality is incredibly lacking compared to our ore.

And unfortunately we can afford to go to china even with this material difference because we can buy 2-3 dies at the same cost as buying them here with shipping costs included! So if you look at it this way the materials in this area are much more robust than the materials they readily have on hand. There for the quality is lower than that of our are. This maybe splitting hairs but I just want to point out this fact. There are bad qualities assurance methods in that are and that is another issue we have. For instance I recently got a die from china and if you know anything about these tools they are made to be very precise and there are often times I must hold a moving gap of one ten thousandth of an inch or in other words .0001. The die I just received was one of them.

Because the die makers did not take there time to make the die correctly some bolts did not line up so what did they do the cut slots in the bolt holes. This die was un-run able and you may say this was a 1 off. This die went a s a 500,000 package of 6 dies every single one had these same issues. So not only do we have a quality assurance issue a material issue but also an assembly issue. Im not trying to bash on Asia or any other country for that matter but the fact is the quality is not there.

They don’t have the American work ethic that most of us do with all the other problems I don’t see how any company could be immune from this. The ways to fix these issues would be to expensive for the companies so the let the flaws happen because if they were to fix them the would be back in the u.s.a.

How can we apply the ore quality diff in the semiconductor market? Or speaker contruction methods & materials for that matter?

You are bringing to the table a means to explain a valid point with facts if you had to dig them up in your field of expertise... but we can not assume this to be the same across all methods of manufacturing unless each is detailed as you have attempted.

but at the same point how can we assume there any diffrent? are you trying to say that my field has incompetent workers only? again i used or as an expample im speaking of many diffrent materials such as copper aluminum and many many others. this is just some valid points that lead to a much bigger picture.

China... Anything made in China needs to be closely inspected.

China is an exploding "Labor" powerhouse. With all them people and a next to nothing working wage they will lead the Labor industry.

What do I know about China and quality of products out of china? Enough. Like Bill I work in a Manufacturing Facility. I have seen first hand products that come from China direct. From Tungsten Carbide Pressed Heavy Metal to actual machined crankshafts (our forte). The quality is always sub par- period.

Also I have industry friends that outsource items to China. One project of which was a small electric DC motor. They couldnt even get that right on the first 5,000 pcs...

China is well known for no or improper Quality Control standards...

Also a note on materials from China...

We just got a horrible batch of forgings from our supplier. They got their Steel ignets from China.

For those who dont know China is buying up as much Steel as they can get their little chinese hands on...
