i get mine through subzone but i dont even like to reccomend those because i can build alot better than what they make. my scosche were really abunch of crap particle boad even.

damn.... ours are mdf and like i said made really nicely, for prefab that is.... so far ive been really happy with all of scosche's stuff......

well i guess i am going to build my own box for the type R.

I'm just wondering if anyone has the full specs for a sealed enclosure?

and

If anyone knows any good sites describing how to build you own?

I found the specs and a good site describing how to do it now i have two more questions.

1. What is tuning the sub and how would i do that for the best sound?

2. When i found the specs i saw that for the recommended sealed box i want to have
49 F3, and .719 Qtc? What the hell is F3 and Qtc???

Dont worry about this to much.

Sealed boxes are really hard to mess up.

If you ever see a graph in winISD you will know what Im saying. You can effectively add 50% more to the box and it doesnt make much difference...

I'd say ported too, that amp should have a built in subsonic filter so you wont have to worry about any hz drops. You would probably be happier too cuz it will be more loud. And you wont lose much SQ cuz they are good sound sounding subs.

It'll show off the nice low end of the driver. From what I heard, they don't do real well in smalled seaeld boxes.

Well...Everyone is saying to do a ported box which i sort of agree with. The only thing is i just bought all the materials to make the sealed box, and its my first time making a box and the sealed would be a lot easier and i have more room for error on a sealed.
but if anyone can find some real good sites on building ported or vented boxes i might give it a shot.

IMO, if you are into a lot of rock, i would stick w/ sealed. I have a ported box and i listen to a wide range of music.

Going ported you get a loud setup, but it lacks slightly in sound quality. Ported boxes "peak" at their tuning frequency, whereas a sealed box has a fairly linear response curve.

If this is your first box, i would stick with sealed. Just build it to spec. I believe on http://www.bcae1.com there is a box calculator. I think its #110 on the list. It should help you determine the right size and i think it even tells you how big to cut each piece.
