Unfortunately manufactures count on that. The don't expect you to know about impedance rise so there rms ratings are for rms of amps not what the impedance rise power will be.

Perfect application. perfect power.
No Bill I didnt doubt your box. Did you read all of my post?
I wish I could smell my amps! That would be kinda cool, would it not? MMMMMMMmmmmmmmm I detect a hint of autotek, and slight sweetness that must be none other than genesis.
Morel Elate 3-ways ran by a Genesis Series III Dual-mono, Morel Ultimo ran by an Autotek mm3000.1, Alpine DVA-9861

I don't buy from those manufacturers lol. I know when a sub's being pushed past it's limits anyways. Which is why i've never damaged a single sub or speaker for that matter.
I would say do your home work first don't go get a 1000 rms sub
and( i think you should get the amp rms out put close as possible
to that sub)then can't afford the right amp for it and most likely
your charging system won't handle it .
then i would stick with amps with 4 ohm rating instead of 2 ohm
ratings. every thing works better in 4 ohms amp lasting longer
and cleaner sound.
