Whats wrong w/Pioneer? - I visited two different stores for a custom car audio installation shop, both people I talked to about installing my car said they would not go w/Pioneer? No one has yet to give me a valid complaint about what exactly is wrong w/this brand - I already have a Pioneer HU - wouldl like to install these items in my 99' Infiniti
4 channel amp - http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/p ... 92,00.html
[front]Rev Series Component 6 1/2 - http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/p ... 27,00.html
[rear]Rev Series Coaxial 2 way 6 1/2
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/p ... 56,00.html

What can I expect from going w/Pioneer - I would prefer to do so since I have a wholesale connection and have already purchased the amp and components - I also already have a Pioneer HU - can someone give me some straight answers about this setup?

i'd definitely take out pioneer premier from the highly rec'd list

weak preouts per rating and weak cd player.

The 05 lower end premiers are a complete waste, the higher end ones are alright, but still weaker preouts than most any other company rated for as much... that + the horrible response to even the smallest scratches... I just can't rec pioneer to anyone anymore.

Pioneer baseline decks are a complete waste of $... 100% POS's.

Pioneers Premier line of cd players are very respectable... there isnt a thing wrong with them,.... their other stuff isnt that great (i.e. Wal Mart stuff)... if you want Pioneer, the only thing worth it from them is their Premier stuff... their other stuff is decent/ok.. and will get the job done just fine.. its just there is better out there for the money and their non Premier stuff id give a 3-5 rating out of 10.

Is there a reason that RE didnt make it on the component speaker or subwoofer list? I was just wondering.

I'm honestly not sure of the huge advantages between the Premier and regular Pioneer decks. I've got the Premier 660 which I find to be decent, but like Spkrman said it is weak on the pre outs. 2 volt pre outs suck..Luckily, I didnt pay too much for it. I would suggest anything from the 860 and up in the Premier line. I really wish i would have gone with the 860.

having 4V pre-outs gives a stronger signal, and more resolution. basically it's like having a cleaner phoneline when you talk to someone. if you have to yell or speak up, or amplify the signal to make it clearly audible, you're amplifying any noise as well which lowers your signal to noise ratio.
higher line voltage (within reason) = higher SNR = good thing.
i'll be the first to admit i haven't tested every single brand but i've had alot of them in my hands or heard them..... the ones i haven't heard i gave a general consensus feeling on them .. like the f1 status shit . and the HIGH HIGH end amps like the McIntosh, and harrison labs..
I was a dealer, retailer, and installer of the early 90s PPI Art and Sedona series amps, Orion pre-DEI, Alpine, and Eclipse. I can tell ya first hand, since my current system is using Alpine F#1Status, circa 1990 Orion, DynAudio, and RE, that both the F#1Status Alpine and pre-DEI Orion products are pretty much second to none although the older Orion amps didn't have some features newer amps do, like built in crossovers etc, they did use the same 15 volt DIN signal path with balanced outputs and phantom power supply as PPI's Art series amps, and were interchangeable, offering crossovers, preamps, EQs, bridging modules, etc with the same balanced noise canceling signal path similar to that used by Zapco today. Keep in mind, back in the 80s, Rockford Fosgate, Precision Power (PPI), and Orion were all founded by the same three men.
They were essentially all sister companies, in a competitive sort of way.

As for Kicker's square subs, they have a high output, but they have lousy failure rates. they're a crappy design from the ground up, as I've gone over in detail numerous times in past threads. Kicker and anybody else designing non-round subs will never succeed in having a good, reliable SQ sub.
