I may be incorrect about the LS2 but then again... im almost damn sure it said they would be putting the LS2 in this car... I'm confused...

Subster... Chevy is no longer trying to buy out Chrysler... They have their own problems to deal with right now. Either car will depriciate almost equally though... I would say the Camaro wont depreciate as badly ... depending on how they actually build it for production... If they go the same route as the Challenger... U are lookign at half your investment gone same as the Challenger... Chevy Trucks hold value... not their cars... remember that (EXTRA NOTE: EXCEPT THE Corvette) Dont even say Camaro's do... they definitely don't.

Now what i was saying is that Mopar should not be marketing this car as a new Barnburner fast dragger... For 45k ITS NOT WORTH IT!!! They already have an egregiously priced sports car, its called the Viper. This car needs to restore Mopar to what it used to be... A muscle car that everyone can enjoy... not just a hoity toighty rich snob.

Same problem happend with the FJ Cruiser for Toyota... was supposed to come out at only 15k starting price... They are closer to 30k now instead.

If you bring a car back from the past it should be a feel good car... Challenger and Camaro's definitely are ... but the best feelign about their cars was their relatively cheap price tag and kicking HP that they packed.

if i had the money hell yes id get the vette. But we are judging poor man sports cars right now. lol. the LS2 is putting out 505 in the SS trailblazer also. Why woudl you neck down the same engine for their new over marketed sports car?
I do rmember how poorly most chevy cars hold value. the impala does decent and i know their trucks hold value, but they also cost quite a bit to start with. I know gm was having their problems and i was against purchasing chrysler from the start you cant fix going broke by buying someone else in the same situation! i dont know that the days of the poor mans sports car can be completely revived tho. Alot has changed since the original low cost horsepower was introduced. There were alot less issue manufacturers had to deal with then. Now they have o god get good gas mileage, and a 5 star crash rating and yata yata yata.

Dodge and chevy both have really fallen from that bench mark of quality at a decent price in my opinion dodge i feel has gone to quantity over quality with almost everything they make excluding the viper. and with the new chevy lines that are out im starting to get the same feel.

o knwo looking back i jsut saw cardogz post, i didnt quite think of it in the long term your definetly right at 45 its a cover it and put in the garage car, that is hoping 20-30 years gas doenst cost 10 bux a gallon lol.

Performance for the real world

The Camaro Concept features the latest generation of GM’s legendary small-block V-8. The 6.0-liter LS2 engine features an aluminum block and heads for light weight, and Active Fuel Management™, which shuts off four cylinders to save fuel when the engine is lightly loaded. This concept version of the LS2 is rated at 400 horsepower, yet it could also deliver more than 30 mpg at highway speeds.

This is from the Chevy press release...

OOO nice find i didnt realize they were gonna do active fuel on the LS2 pretty much a completley different engine. The corvette is diong 28mpg and i dont think they incorporated taht, but its a much lighter car. Active fuel is going in everything in their lineup right now. hopefully it works long term i have a feelign they are looking at a major fail rate long term

its questionable... Mopar has been doing a similar concept for about 3 years and even though its not long term its working well. I heard the new Corvettes arent clearing 24mpg according to an EPA Fuel consumption site for almost every brand of car and year.... But still I doubt that this Camaro is going to reach into the 30's with Active Fuel... I mean you would have to be doing maybe 55-60mph in 6th gear on a flat run for and using Cruise control...

They said my Camry would get up to 31mpg... I have the High output 268hp V6 6 spd tiptronic... and trust me... I just started getting better gas milage around 26k miles ... i think i recently averaged about 26mpg... before that i was only getting 21-22mpg...

We will see.. If in 5-6 years the price is right ... Im def going to buy a used Camaro... and just stay young for a while. Granted my die hard Mopar friends will chastise me... but I am sorry... The Camaro has my praise and definitely has my admiration for its soon to be great asthetic appeal and seemingly great features.

well since i work for chrysler my pick is for the challenger. And gas milage is important but the way i look atit its not a cool car if everyone has one which willbe the case withthe camaro. Thats how ford cheapened the stang by making models so cheap everyone can have one. Plus heard at work that they are making a 7.1 or 7.3 something like that for the challnger as well

so let me get this straight... a company wants to produce a car that they don't want to sell to many of? yea thats a way to make money  dig a bigger hole Chrysler.

the reason the vette is still around is because its a super car priced at a point no one can touch. and i don't care if 45 million people have one. i have a car thats just as fast as your 400000 dollar Ferrari. be as cool as you want and ill save my 300000 dollars.

I think the viper is a cool cars cause you dont see them everywhere, same will be said by the challenger. I just think the muscle cars loose there mystique when they are everywhere. And so you know i thnk the new camaros are bad ass just like the vettes and mustangs are, was just giving my opinon man calm down my opinion, the car you drive does not make you cool i said they are cool cars
