That's the unfortunate thing about people who don't really understand what they're getting into. They DON'T KNOW that they're wrong, so they'll keep arguing. They don't have the capacity to admit or understand that they screwed it up.

I'd send him an email asking a couple questions:
1.) How long did he play it before it started making noise. Was it working properly when he first ran it?

2.) Why did he wait two months to contact you after buying it?

3.) If he wasn't happy with it, why did he leave positive feedback?

Explain to him that if it was working originally, any playing or potentially incorrect setup that causes damage isn't covered by you, since you didn't damage the product, HE did.

Good grief, it's been 2 months since the auction ended.

Are you suppose to warranty a used sub forever?

Don't give this person any money back, they got 2 months use of usage off of it. Who knows what abuse it could have seen since then.

This person just doesn't understand that even if he puts it in a sealed box (after the damage is done) it's still going to pop. It's not a magical healing box..

I never replied back to his last "question" he sent me via E bay. I figure all it will do is escalate the situation.

I wouldnt mind helping the guy figure it out or determine if he messed it up. I dont like the tone Im getting from his message though. I understand he probably feels he got took while unknowingly he did the damage due to improper settings.

But trying to explain an issue like this to a young guy with no real car audio knowledge isnt easy. Im sure I would get accused of screwing him over, etc.

The way I see it; he bought it and is happy with it, left me positive feedback. Now hes got an issue that 99.9% likely he caused 2 months later. Thats not my issue any longer. Im sure E bay would take the same stance.

Hay ryan why not send him here. Tell him to explain the situation to us see what we thing caused it. I know you wouldn't sell him a bad sub, but maybe if we try to explain things to him he might learn and not make the same mistake again.

That or hell link him to the post in the faq section about a SSF or setting gains using a DMM. Maybe if he reads, or hears it from someone else he will figure out what happened.
