$300-400 and no amp maybe a 15 would be a good choice
So 300-400 for the sub alone, or for both sub and amp?

15" subs;
Alpine type R
Kicker CVR, CVX
RE audio SE,SX
MTX 8500
FI audio( dunno any model numbers)
Fusion (one mentioned above)
Eclipse Titanium (or any TC Sounds subs)

Just some I could think of off the top of my heAd.

Bwcad1 wrote:the sub wattage has nothing to do with the output. the wattage is related to the thermal capacity of the voice coil of the sub. just because it says 1500w or whatever does'nt mean you will get that much output or you need to put that much power on the woofer
^Exactly :happy055:

And the Fusion sub would sound great with around 800 watts rms on it, I'm pretty sure that Mike (swimmerdude) still has his Crunch 1600.1 for sale (see in the "For Sale" section) and it still has the factory warranty ;)

So you could actually get both sub and amp in your budget :thumbsup

Type R's are very good speakers, but unless you get a good deal from someone used, be careful where you buy new, as many internet and ebay dealers will say that they're authorized, but they're not and you'll get no warranty from Alpine and may get no warranty at all.
I don't think we have any authorized Alpine dealers on here, but I know a lot of people here have had Type R's and have been very happy with them.

Better jump over to that thread in the For Sale section and hit up (Mike) swimmerdude and let him know that you're interested ;)

and I don't know about onlinecarstereo.com... maybe someone else will have some feedback on that one.

onlinecarstereo.com is just like a seller on ebay. They arent authorized dealers of the products they sell. Some of those sites, though, seem to be good about their own warranties and service. I actually had a friend who bought an amp from a place like onlinecarstereo.com, the amp somewhere down the road failed, we sent it in, and a while later(3.5 months later) we have the amp back. We just got it today, and im hoping it works. All I have to say is buy at your own risk. Just know that they arent authorized dealers and you will only be able to do warranty problems through them, and not the audio company.
