A ported box built specific to your subs and your tastes.
It makes a world of difference.
What is the tuning of your current box? Size? Gain?
These are things you need to know. There are other factors also.
I build boxes as well as Bill and JoeyC. So if your interested hit one of us up.

personally I prefer to have a system that sounds good, and accurate instead of just deafening.
However, if you're after a loud system to out-do your friends, attract attention, piss off the neighbors, and send up a signal to car thieves, here's my suggestion:
Keep the type-R subs, and put them in a bandpass enclosure, custom built by a professional, and feed each one about 800 watts RMS.
That combined with sound treating your vehicle, should improve output with the best bang for the buck.
Bigger isn't always better, and you don't always have to replace everything you own to get better results.
Do keep in mind though, that the music you amplify with your amps is energy, and the more energy you use to hear the music outside the car, the less energy translates to the volume inside the car.
The more you can keep the audio in the car, the louder it'll be.
Also, the type X is a high excursion SQ sub, and Xmax isn't a direct correlation to peak output. The sub isn't made for SPL, and won't end up being as loud as the type R, due to it's lower sensitivity.

Well i just heard what the other guys are getting for there systems One guy is getting 2 RF ( PUNCH P2) <12> with punch amp/ 2nd guy 1 kicker solo baric 15 ( in a truck) with Kicker Comp amp/ 3rd 2 audiobahn immortal 12 and he hasnt choosen a amp yet in a 94 civic/ 4th guy 2 kicker solo baric 12s he said 15s will be to much for him in a Suburban ( and i dont know what amp he getting) SO with the right box will i still have enough.
lol.. Glass.. lets keep it simple here.. i wouldnt worry about what they are getting, they arent getting anything special.. especially if they put them in prefab boxes with amps that wont even power them correctly.. also you still havent stated if your Type R's are dual 4ohm or 2ohm.. that is needed to know because amps put out different power at 4ohms, 2ohms, and 1ohm.. also the Type X as stated, is geared towards SQ.. i have not personally heard the Type X, but ive read/been told many times the Type R can get louder than the Type X.. i can tell you right now, you should keep them Type R's, put them in a good custom built ported box and give them 500-800rms a piece, and you will be MUCH louder than you are now.. and if you want to know what DB you are hitting, see if any of the car audio shops have TermLab, some may say they have an Audio Control, but they arent as accurate, but they can give you a general idea of what you are hitting, but the Termlab is what you Want to be metered on.
