The bass boost is correct. The gain set is not. The gain is supposed to be in a certain place so it does not clip the amp and send the subs a clipped signal.
If you're running a sealed enclosure, don't use the HPF, or set it at minimum. If you're using a ported enclosure, you should set it just below the tuning of your enclosure.
As far as the gain setting, what is the preout voltage of your HU and what range does your amp gain go from?
Yeah I have a sealed box, and fucked with the HPF today, but didnt like how it sounded so I turned it down to as low as possible (already what it was at) And as far as gain I know nothing. I havent messed with that yet. I wouldnt even be able to tell u the preout voltage of my HU its a pretty old pioneer premier..
Then I suggest you turn your gain to like 11 o'clock or so to make sure you don't end up burning up your sub. Especially if you like to turn the volume up.
Alright, are you sure thats right? I heard fucking around with your gain can be harmful to the sub, and that you need a DMM to set it, so I hope this is right
Yeah I would suggest using a dmm for setting the gain... doesn't have to be an expensive one... You can get one from Harbor Freight Tools for less than $15 bucks.
In the off chance that you are worried that you don't know how to set the gain with a dmm... You're in luck... I just put up a tutorial on "how to" in laymans terms in the FAQ thread, so read/ print that and you'll find it's actually really easy.
By the way, you'll need a calculator too (although I'm sure you have one), but make sure it has a square root button (looks like a checkmark with a lil tail on it (most of them have it).

You are absolutely right, and that's why you shouldn't have it set as high as you do.
Make sure you take a look at cargodz tutorial.

I didnt set it. The guy who installed my subs and amp did. I turned it down to what u said and it sounds like theres no bass at all........like a 50 watt system or something.

Better get that sucker set correctly, as per cargodz tutorial A DMM at Home Depot is like 20$. And they are super good to have around for other reasons as well.
Who installed your system?
