Heck, I'll stand back and watch you install it (supervise) for a slight feesinister audio wrote:smoker could probaly let you watch him install it for a slight fee.
seriously though... between the ideas between Terry (smoker), Bill, and myself, you could have one badass daily driver

if your gonna drop that much money into it.. and didnt know everything stated right off the bat... i beg you to let someone with a decent amount of experience build you a box and wire every thing for you. Thats all you need is that much money down the shitter becuase your box flexes and your amps are getting interference. not to mention wiring up the batteries well, good grounds.. all the basics.. O yeah if you want to go loud and drive it too.. look at the FI.Q 18 it will sound good and blow you away at the same time. two or three of them. at 309 shipped.. you can put alot of money into good amps, Im a big fan of rockford power t2001bd or the 3001bd, amps that can take a pounding and are incredibly reliable. Keep us posted on what you come up with!
I'm wondering "why SoloX 18's?"
:
They are an SPL competition sub - and inherent in that are all the daily-driver drawbacks of a purpose-built SPL competition sub.
For a daily-driver boom-car, L7's would be much, much better suited to the task, and wouldn't require half the power, nor any huge enclosure design. Compare four 15" L7's, for boom car duty, to two SoloX 18's. They would not only be louder, and more managable, but a fraction of the price.

go with a couple 15" or 18" FI Audio BTL's, throw around 2500rms to each and call it a day.. that will loud as F#ck and have good SQ still.. or look for some old Resonant Engineering XXX's or even 18" SX, i believe Smoker has one for sale, or did.. you will definately need a high output alt.. 300amp for sure.. you could use your stock alt for the car, and the 300amp for the stereo.. also for the big 3, use 0 guage. and look into Excessive Amperage, Iraggi Alts, Power Master. id probably pick up a good battery for the car itself, and 2 or 4 batteries for the stereo, look into Optima, Kinetik, Stinger for batteries to name a few. and for wireing go to http://www.knukonceptz.com they will have everything you need, you WILL need 0 gauge wireing all around. you could even do 8 gauge speaker wire the subs, lol. but id go with atleast 14 gauge for your subs..
Since your wanting to "learn", why don't you consider forgetting the 4 battery, multiple run of 1/0, twin alternator, and a turbo charged amplifier!! I would recommend you get ONE bad ass sub.....ie Elevation audio execution, Fi, you know. Give that one sub about 1500 watts, then have these spl guys help you figure out and design an enclosure that will get crazy loud! After that, if that setup is not loud enough then you will have learned a great deal and be able to get even louder!! Don't try to do 155's your first go 'round....
just my two cents

two fifteens with three thousand watts would be almost as easy as wiring and installing one nice sub. He has the money for two and wants to learn. Its not like he can mess up to fifteens much more than one. If your gonna make a mistake its more than likely gonna be a universal mistake not one that will come from learning how to run 4 batteries in series, it will be poor ground points, or badly run wires some thing pretty simple, unless he goes off the wall with a fiberglass box he attempted himself, or tries to properly tune sinked amps.

as far as batteries go, get a pair of stingers monsters. Two of those for the system and one 1000 under the hood. Ive seen two of their top of the line batteries run 6 Jl 1000 amps, with 6 12 inch w7s. No lack of power there! also check into a second alternator, instead of just one massive one for everyhting . let the stock alt do what it was built to do, and install and extra for your system much better performance.

There's quite a learning curve in the field of audio. Put audio and a car and that complicates things further (i.e. crappy environment, mechanical aspects, etc.)
1) Massive DMX15 3000wrms
1) P3000.1 3000wrms @ 1ohm
1) High output alternator
1) really good battery under the hood
- Set of 0 ga. wiring
- Upgrade of the Big 3 (if you haven't already)
- box built to specs (Ryan can do a good job for ya)
1) Set Bravox Carbon Fiber or Kevlar series components
1) Massive Audio P200.2 (to push the components)
- Set of 8 ga. wiring
- Don't forget an alarm
Then sit back and enjoy the experience
