the problem is as mentioned, I believe.
you need to set resolution on both display properties, and in the software you're using for that of the LCD's native resolution.
1680x1050 or what have you. The only thing I've had issues with is a few old and poorly written applications like some older screensavers.
otherwise my WS notebook does just fine. correct aspect, just more desktop.
