I don't smell anything, but the BIOS won't reflash no matter what I do.

does your motherboard have any dipswitches that need to be switched to allow a flash of the bios?

Some do, and if they aren't set in the right position, you can't reload the bios.

Nope. I've updated it before. You just stick in the CD and it updates and reboots. Takes just a few seconds.

Got everything squared away now. New motherboard in. Ended up having issues with Windows thinking that my backup drive was corrupt, so now all my backup stuff is labeled File0000.chk, File0001.chk.... on my harddrive. That's 23,000 files I need to go through. Good thing I found a utility that'll rename the extension for me. I'll still have to figure out what each file is though.

CaptainPioneer wrote:Ok well ASUS is most definitely not going to do anything about that... Same deal happend with my brother, and unless you have some qualifications on PC Repair or installation they will say that you f'ed it up and its your fault...

Just out of curiosity, what kind of Heatsink did u get?
for what it's worth I've never had an issue with ASUS or ABIT in regards to a motherboard exchange or repair call.
I've even had both companies upgrade me to a top model board before due to being out of stock on my models.
