Hifonics in my opinion has always been a good quality product.

Offer the guy $200 shipped. I bet he will bite.
Take the amp and strip it then repaint it...
Done, and for cheap.

Generally amps that run at higher impedences are more efficient and create less heat (because there is higher voltage / lower current in their "wattage equation"), so that would actually prove to be ammunition supporting the arguments you are already making on purchasing the dual 1 ohm version so you can run it at 2 ohms.chodecz wrote:Hi guys,
I'm looking to buy a particular sub, it comes in two versions - dual 1ohm and dual 2ohm.
I will be powering it by 1 amp, so I figure the dual 1 ohm would be better so I can run it in series at 2 ohms. This makes amp choice easier, otherwise I'd need a 1ohm stable amp.
Is there any advantages/disadvantages of running a dual 1 ohm coil setup? Or runnning a lower/higher impendences in general???
Plus, there are more 2 ohm stable amps out there than 1 ohm stable amps.
It's refreshing to have someone like you come along, who already has clearly used their brain to try to arrive at a logical conclusion on their own, to try to figure out what makes sense, rather than just coming and posting a question like "dude, which is louder, dual 1 ohm or dual 2 ohm?"
Thanks guys, but I've order the dual 2ohm version.
I figure what ryan says in that I'd get more value out of the amp. Plus I wont be running the sub at full output for long amounts of time, so the amp shouldn't heat up too much. Plus it can be wired at 4ohms to be powered by 2 amps, if I so choose.
I've got till Saturday to change my mind on the coil version, so do you guys think I'm right in going for the dual 2ohm version???..
