Ok, now down to the money amounts. My car estimate came back and it was a hole in the trany line, lol, so I am looking at about 100 or less to get it fixed, parts and labor. So audio is back in the ring. I am looking at no subs until around thanksgiving or christmas and am only looking to spend 500-700 dollars. I know I can find good things on here and through woofersetc.com, which I hope to utilize. I am looking at alpine Type-Rs now, and the Kicker CompVRs. There is also a guy on here selling a couple Solo Barics with a box for 100, so I don't know what you all think about that. People in my small town seem to think that they are good, just loud but people with a lick of audio sense say go round instead of square. Also it comes down to amps, I need some imput on the profile california and baja amps, they are mono blocks with 1000 max, I think, so it should be enough to power my subs. Sorry for the long post but I am cramming as much info as I can in before I have to get changed for work. Hopefully I can come home with like five different replies or some agreeing ones that I can hope will help me. I also have two pretty good like specialty audio shops here in down, Dr. Dashboard and Custom Audio, I like Custom so far because they have done almost all my install, but I've heard of alot of people going to Dr. for stuff but then bitch about the install.

a very clean and relatively affordable system can be put together with a premier hu, kicker/jl/alpine amps, jl/diamond components, and a jl/diamond subwoofer.

Myself personally, I would go with the Type-R's and as for the amp I would recommend NOT going with Profile. If you want a decent affordable amp look at Power Acoustik or SPL before Profile (I've just had a lot of bad experiences with the Profile stuff and don't want to see it happen to you).

Yeah, I dunno about the solobarics. They are d8ohm, but a pair for a hundred bucks with box. Something is fishy there. Maybe not. However, you should note his post count before getting to excited.

I like your choice of Alpine Subs, but dislike the idea of using profile and Baja, sorry some may argue with me on that but i just give that a thumbsdown in my arena... Personally if u are going with 2 subs and u are really lookign for sq and not spl i would say that type Rs as well as those solo barics are not what you are lookign for... Again i would say Ascendant Audio Assasins, JL W3V3's, Diamond D3's are ok, Pioneer Premier subs really kick ass imo, but i had the older ones i dont know how they sound these days. Kicker Comps are ok sq but not like what i mentioned above...
It seems that the ppl in ur area are more into having other ppl hear there system from miles away instead of sq and thats not what i thought you were orignally indending... Also ROUND is usually better but im sure Bill will correct me here, in the defense of angled sub surrounds Xtant hexogonaly subs are awesome, but their hefty price tag will probably keep you from getting them... Also if you want a nice sounding sub bravox makes some great subs as well as RE (Although some here might suggest you steer away from them since the US Amps takeover) im still fine with my SX i have.
If you are interested in Hiffonics give it a try and there is no one better to talk to then Bill aka (Bwcad1) here. he is very helpful

Good luck with everything

First off, I'll talk to cargodz, I've heard Type-Rs and they sounded good to me. When I said Sq I thought that meant boom-car for some reason. That is what I am going for overall, I want to be heard 5 minutes plus away. Next onto brent, yeah I noticed he just joined so I was thinking about checking out his ebay ratings and maybe looking at the other forum he is on and checking that. It might be that he just decided the best place to sell would be on a forum with car audio enthusiasts, because he would get more money out of it as compared to a pawn shop or some friend. CaptainPioneer, I personally thought your comment was the best, not to rip on others of course. Um, I have not heard W3v3s myself, I have a friend who has a couple W7s in his Escalade, but they are an older pair, not the brand new kind, another friend with MTX 4500s, another with MTX 6000s, and another with MTX 5500s, the 45s are a year and a half old, the 6s are obviously discontinued so no telling how old they are, and I think the 55s are less than a year. Not alot of people around here go around blaring their subs as much as I would hope, as to give me a better idea between sounds. I might stay clear of Premier because of the pretty heafy price tag because I was planning on getting the subs already in a box, save me some work or buying one seperately or paying someone to build one for me, although there are plenty of talented box builders on here. I read about the CompVRs being on like the "sugessted buy" list on here, I am guessing they give a pretty decent bang for your buck. If I save up I will go with VX instead, but the price jump is pretty significant. We have a Diamond dealer so I might go check those out once I have my car back in my possesion. I would like to hear from people that have bought off the internet, other than ebay, although I might hit that up eventually, on experiences good and bad and where they went and an overall evaluation of a couple sites in particular: Crutchfield, woofersetc, and I guess throw Ebay in here, also who some reliable people here are to buy from. If I buy from here it will all be money orders since, that is how I buy things due to a lack of a credit card and parents to don't want me to really get subs, both sets are annoyed by them.

Ack, the guy with the solo barics has been on Ebay for about 4 years. And it says he has ben selling for the past 4, but his comments/feedback, most of them have A+++++++++++ in them, so I am wondering if he would be so much of a underhanded guy to go and actually register multiple times to give himself good feedback. Not such, but I'll let all of you make the decision.

Oh, btw it says he isn't selling anything anymore now.

Sorry, I appologize, I type this way for school too. I just type and keep typing until I am done without divying it up. Oh, and Hifonics amps, I need a concensus on them as well, I was thinking about using those.
