Theyre at a 2ohm load. If I had the Subs level on the HU at 3, I would have barely any bass.

If you have access to a digital volt meter and a 50hz test tone, you can tune that amp real quick. This is actually not the best way to tune the amp (an O-Scope is the best), but it'll do the job.

Realm of Excursion voltage calculator
^x2 sounds as though the amp needs to be tuned and the big 3 definately done with a 150ANL fuse.

I usually keep the subs at +15 (Highest), Bass at +6 (High is 8). Sometimes when Im trying to show off or something, Ill turn the Bass Boost all the way up. When I do that, the amp usually cuts out after like 5 minutes. So I dont do it much.
Plus bass eq at 6db and remote eq at 9db, I would say you are pushing the amp a little too much. Maybe Bill can chime in since he is very familiar with Hifonics equipment.

Alright, how do I tune it? And should I just wait until I do the upgrade? I already upgraded to a 150 or 180ANL fuse. When I had it installed at the local shop, they didnt have the remote bass boost connected. But I wanted more bass so I connected it. Maybe I should just leave it off. Would it be ok to use after the upgrade?

Only thing a remote bass knob is good for is turning down the level if a cop is around. Bleh.. I just hit the ATT button.

The best way to tune it would be with an O-Scope, but I doubt you've got one (most people don't, I will soon, hehe). The second best, to me, is with a digital voltage meter. Third best is to the ear. Problem with this one is some people will hear distortion quicker/easier than others.

I can't remember the exact steps of using the DVM to tune it, but I'll go through a brief of it..

1) Turn off all bass boosters, equalizers, loudness buttons, etc. (headunit and amp)
2) Turn gains on amp to the lowest setting
3) turn up headunit 3/4 of the way. If you hear distortion/clipping, turn the headunit down until it clears up. Note the volume level for later use. Turn headunit off.
4) Remove subs from amplifier.
5) Connect the red lead of the DVM to the + of the amplifier. Connect the black lead of the DVM to the - of the amplifier. Turn DVM on AC voltage (has the little squiggly line over or next to the V)
6) Turn on headunit and insert a CD with a test tone. 50 to 60hz tone will work. Make sure headunit is set to repeat that tone. Turn up the volume on the headunit to the same level you had it earlier.
7) Go to the DVM and look at what is is reading. (Note** it'll be very low right now).
8) Turn up the gain setting. You'll need to get as close to 40volt as possible.

Pretty much done there...

One thing I noticed when I did it a while ago was the frequency and subsonic filter adjustments. I turned my 2005d amp to read a couple volts under what I needed then adjsted the frequency until it peaked. then adjusted the subsonic a little.

No bass boost and shakes the car like a mofo. If you turn up the bass eq, at this point, you'll see more voltage on the DVM. the more you turn the bass eq up, the less you need to have the input gain.

But then again, I could be totally wrong on this. It's been a couple weeks to a months since I've done it and can't remember everything.

I was out today for about a half hour driving in 80+ weather with my stereo cranked, and the amp didnt cut out. Maybe the extra db is just too much for that amp right now. Id like o know how Ill be able to use it though. I want more :)

you should of got subs that would wire to 1 ohm because then you can run the amp at full power and they kick out quite a bit more at 1ohm. also to get a hifonics to shut off it has to either over heat from being to hot to low of ohms for to long or clipping the hell out of it for a long time. its a great amp too bad you didnt get the right subs to match it.

Yeah, I guess I talked to the wrong people. I was told to go with the 2ohm ones. Oh well :(
