what sort of music did ya hear on them?
I liked the 901 series VI myself back in the late 80s, but they just cost too much and were too limited in what they were very good at doing.
At the time, I ended up much more enamored with the KEF Reference series 104/2 mains. They ran about $3,600/matched pair. I still have em, too :)
My favorites now, as most folks already know, are teh Martin Logan ESLs.

Well it was back around 1993-97 when we used to hang out at his place.

We listened to rock and rap of course. Tootsie roll was loud as hell, but didnt have enough bass to accompany the level. Dont get me wrong it was loud enough and with enough bass to shake everything is the house quite litteraly, but not what I would of expected.

It was crisp and loud, even at extreme volumes. The amplfifer had some sort of a meter that monitored the speakers and the actual output. So if you turned it up to loud and it clipped, it would back off automaticaly...

It was definetly a high dollar setup!

bose put a system in the Pontiac GTP's, and i must say it wasnt very bad at all for a stock system, though my uncle paid out the ass for it. bose is over-rated. my roomate loves them, he's about to pay $1k for plane headset. i couldnt believe he was serious.

Plane headsets aren't cheap. A friend of mine is a pilot (still in school, but has his private's liscence) and he bought the cheap one -$350.

Not to steal a thread but,

Has anyone heard the JL home audio subs in person? I don't know if anybody has watched the videos on JL's site but they showed a sub flexing around 3-4". Thats what they said it was anyway, don't know if it was.

They sounded interesting.

To watch the videos, from JL's site, click the JL Home Products on the list to the left of the screen. You can find it from there. The video is called Loudspeaker Tech.

my dad's infiniti has a bose system in it...got like 4 speakers 2tweeters and an 8" sub. it sounds incredibly good...you can turn it up very loud without getting any distortion or any sort of discomfort. personally i think it lacks musical accuracy but that may not neccessarily be the speakers.

it is sad though...everyone thinks Bose is absolutely the best for audio.
