Need a sub amp and Speaker amp! help!!

RF astounds you? have you ever seen the displays at best buy? at some point, the cones on every single one of them i've seen there have cracked or been messed up in some way.

maybe alpine type-r's?

hey everyone, thanks for all the input. This system will take me time to get everything goin, I will upgrade the electrical of course, running an Optima just for the system and HO alternator. What else would I need for the electrical?
I am looking into spending around 3 thousand for the system...that is why it will take some time. I mainly listen to rock music...hardcore and some metal...basically 5 piece band type of music. So I want clarity but I also want it to hit HARD when I want it to. I have used Rockford in the past...not their crazy high-end expensive equipment, but I have heard overall good things about this brand. I am a little anal about mix and matching companies in a system (JL subs, rocksford amps, infinity components).

I would rather spend the extra and have a system with all the same companies products. Besides then all I have to do is buy one sticker to put on my window instead of 10 to show what I got on the inside! (kidding...)

IMO there head units blow...if I am going to change out my headunit I would go for the Pioneer flip out, or Kenwood...but I am not changing my headunit...I am getting the 360.1 OEM interface.

From the looks of things, rocksford seems to have many products that are purely lame, for the usual buyer...ie. best buy, circuit city...but then they have there high end stuff...and I am only going for the high end equipment.

if you want to use a company with great products and not miss and match get some DLS or JL their W7s will slotter the rockfords.

W7's are way more than the rockford and i hear (dont hold me to it) that they are more for SPL and dont provide clean hits...as in rock music, not rap.

Lets see, keep the 3sixty, get an Audison SRX3 65x2 and 340x1 for the only amp. Get yourself some Focal 165KF, will play everything you throw at them, get the JL 12w6v2, just one, for your sub bass. Forget about rear speakers. They will just hinder your sq. Total speakers, 5, total satisfaction...1 google.

Just a hint, this will cost about this much:

Audison SRx3: 500
Focal KF: 475
12W6v2: 550

leave the rest for wiring, big 3, and alternator, and if you can find an MECP certified installer...use the rest. You should be fine!

of course, this is only a suggestion. There are other fine brands out there. Check with Bwcad (Bill) about some of the maxxsonic equipment (MBQuart, Autotek), I am sure you can attain much better sound than what RF has to offer.

Best advice I can give you...go to a brick and morter specialty car audio shop, listen to their high end speakers. Visit about 3-4 of these. Then finish up with visiting your local BB and audition the RF. I am almost sure you mind will be changed after hearing the better stuff out there.

Just trust your ears, they will tell you what is best. Not the price of equipment. Hell Audiobahn is some of the most expensive equipment out there and it sounds like asssh....

Nope. The W7 can play anything and sound good. The only down side is that they require a lower x-over point (around 60). Which is a problem with 99% of your high excersion woofers.

Just my opinion: But if your impressed with RF, then you might as well go with Power Acoustik (same quality at far less price)
Myself I prefer Alphasonik or Hifonics

First, you'll need to upgrade your big 3 wiring. Upgrade that to 1/0 gauge wire, just do a forum search for it for info or on google.
Second, don't expect these "hard hitting" subs from hardcore/metal music. A lot of it is poorly recorded and even more poorly recorded down low. Although, on a positive note, I will add that a lot of the newer recordings are including good low quality. Good bass kicks, good bass guitar response, etc.

Im Pro Rockford when it come to the amps but they can cost alot and most of the time you can get the same power by a different reputable brand for less ...

Why not go with Some Zapco on amps and get RE Subs... there isnt anything wrong with mixing name brands man,, it isnt a fashion show were everything must match Dawg lol

and dont get a optima battery get a Kinetiks Monster instead
