i have the jl xr 6.5 comps. the tweeter is very slightly harsh at first, but on the crossover you can tone them down by 1.5,3,4.5 or up by 1.5dbs. once i put them at -3 db im lovin em. ive also heard it is important to keep the tweeter close to the mid on this set becuz of a steep crossover. ive done this also, in the kick panel, and the results are great. definitely worth the money if you can mount them properly. hope this helps

i think you should suggest comps that are in your budget or raise your budget. the R6s lists for around 250 but the IRs are up to 1200

i wasnt talking about buying the iridiums... I just meant that all i have heard of DLS is about their Iridium line...

Just wondering where the R6 would rate compared to the CDT JL-XR's... At this point im leaning towards the JL, although i may be able to get an R6 for 20-30 more.

I've got some JL Xr650CSi. I bought them on sonicelectronix with a 1 year warranty for like $350 or so.

I like them, given they are my first aftermarket set of components. I'm happy they sound clear, midbass keeps up with my sub. I'm not sure in the ears of an audophile which would sound better though.

Focal doesn't make a Comp set in that price range. Step it up to about $300 and you can get into some Focal Access comps.
